  • 686 errors since start of 2014 season!!! Appalling

    http://www.nrl.com/cutting-errors-th...0/default.aspx

What's being done about this error rate? Why hasn't it been addressed for so long? It seems players are just talking about it this week because the press brought it up.

To me, this explains why we didn't win 3 premierships with the best roster in the comp. This error rate is the worst in the comp over the years. I've constantly complained on forums about our errors over the years. Different players but same error rate?? I want Robbo to initiate a long term project to fix these problems like handling, passing and poor carries etc and expect him to lift his coaching game otherwise I want a different coach. We can't win games with this percentage of errors and we are even losing games to lesser sides because of our errors. Without his superstar roster, Robbo is learning the hard way that the basics come first or you lose every game and end up second last on the ladder.

I dunno if you can blame the head coach for on-field errors like dropped ball and that. It's not like he wouldn't care.
Bet Souths had more errors than us in 2014, but most of them became penalties/

The problem has to be addressed and focused on a lot more. Are they playing a rushed style that's causing these errors? Someone has to show some leadership on this issue. My obvious choice is the coach. Maybe we need a better ball trainer. But something needs to be done doesn't it? Or should we just leave it as is and hope for the best?

People always mention the Cowboys & Broncos low error rates. But that's because they play all their home games in perfect dry weather conditions.

We play so much in duey shit conditions at Allianz.

Still, that doesn't totally explain our awful ball control. It is a point of frustration and will never be fixed whilst we have error prone players like Tupou in the team. And Mitchell for all his talent is a mistake machine.

On field leadership could be another obvious choice.
Thinking we lack a bit more in that department,

At the moment I think the cause is a serious case of performance anxiety. It's not a matter of not being careful enough, they are at rock bottom confidence levels.

It would be interesting to see all 16 teams and how it contrasts with points scored and games won/loss

I think firstly, we have to stop thinking about winning and scoring off every set and make our goal to complete our sets and effect tackles. Only take chances down their end. Ball security needs to be our first priority above winning. Then we will have enough composure to get back some confidence. But we are rushing things and forcing passes that are not on and not focusing on carrying the ball tightly but worried about what's ahead. We need a change of mindset perhaps a sports psychologist can help.

It also comes down to coaching style. I think Robbo likes us to chance our arm. And it should be noted that we had the best attack three years running with the best attack in the oppositions 20. So that must count for something.

However perhaps the style only works with considerable attacking arsenal in the team. Now that we're not as talented (no Jimmy, SBW, Jenko, RTS) perhaps a more ball control focused style and playing to the strength of our forwards should be the go.
