I think what he brought to Easts was perfect. Hard work ethic as a fun-loving top bloke. Everyone loved playing with him.
I met him a few times at junior footy matches at Rowland Park and he was an absolute legend.
Also spoke to his brother late last year who said Jimmy was so disappointed to be leaving Easts because he loved being a part of the club and wanted to stay.
After reluctantly signing with Cronulla he has gone about plying his trade there and has clearly lifted their club as he did at ours..
Deserved winner of another premiership in my mind. Just wish it was another premiership at Easts....
I totally agree with your opinion mate!

Maloney should not have been let go.
We have far greater problems than just 'no Maloney'.
Jimmy could have decided he'd rather live in Canada, as his family had a new-found love for ice and snow, and moved there at the end of last season.
One player should not a winning team make...the Sharks have many stars
The Sharks have many stars.
We have wingers who let tries be scored outside them every game.
We have forwards who keep tackling players in the head and getting suspended. [got '5 hours' to line the player up for a tackle, and then tackle them with a swinging arm, right on the nose/face.]
We have rookies everywhere from the 20's...thanks for nothing RTS.
We have injuries galore.
"5 minutes ago is history" - mummy dearest. [Jennings lost the ball in every 'second' tackle last season, plus off-field drama.]
Board/Club/Coach must now decide what our future roster will be.

here is a few more classic Jack quotes. great book.
The big test in football is how a captain leads under conditions of adversity.
Waiting for Cronulla to win a premiership is like leaving the porch lamp on for Harold Holt.
Talent is secondary to whether players are confident.
To win a championship, you've got to have a nucleus of five or six real tough, hard competitors. To win anything, the team's got to think tough and that infiltrates into the individual. You've got to have a tough leader.

Holy Shyte, based on these 2 quotes alone, we'd have to let quite a few of our team go............

I'll put my hand up - I was not unhappy when the Club decided to back young Hastings in favor of retaining Maloney. This was based on the fact that Maloney was in the top 5 for missed tackles, errors made and conceding penalties last season.
You win some and you lose some ... that's footy!
I'll agree with you there but I'm definitely not writing young Jackson off. He's still only 20 years old & has a lot of learning to do. But I still think that he'll get there & be our long term option.

The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks team is much better than our team as well. James Maloney has walked from one good team to another and good for him I hope he continues to succeed there. We need to work out how to rectify our situation and looking to should have, could have, would have isn't doing that.
If we don't look back at these dumbass decisions we'll be doomed to just make them all over again.
Whatever asshole decided jimmy wasn't worth 3 years particularly better do the honorable thing and top himself when the Sharks lift the trophy year

I'm pretty sure Robbo must have a HUGE say in recruitment & retention at our club. Just gotta have.

The Buck must stop with Robbo ultimately, and as such I hope he has negotiated full control of the squad in his new deal

Yep, good call. But that would really hinder Robbo. Also, Robbo could not be held accountable if this was the case. I bet Bellamy & Bennett have complete 100% say.Roosters For Ever

Yeah we gambled on Hastings to be a half and kick goals and it back fired big time. Not fair on him either.
We start the year with kids all over the place and no goal kicker.
Don't worry people say 2017 will be better.
Eff that. We have got a hell of a lot more pain in 2016 to endure, starting this Sat night.
Luv to be more positive but I'm a realist.
Expect more injuries too cause key personnel are gonna be trying TOO HARD to make up for a few STUPID decisions.Last edited by PeeGee; 06-09-2016, 06:55 PM.Roosters For Ever
