Just goes to prove - great players dont equal great coaches & 'favourite sons' don't equal results.

Robinson only played a handful of 1st grade games as a bench prop. Not even close to Freddy as a player. But night and day as coaches.

2009 was awful. A drunken Freddy being led around by Mason, O'Meley, Myles and such. Mason having a bad influence on youngsters like Friend, Pearce, Sa, etc. while undermining Fitzy.

I remember being so bumped when Freddy was handed the coaching gig. Had initial success taking over the team after Chris Anderson f*@ked everything up. Then within a year was so disappointed when he got dumped, because of off issues coupled with poor results. The fact that he got locked out of his hotel room naked is funny now but was really upsetting to hear about at the time. Lol

Just goes to show as stated above that great players don't always make great coaches. Joey is another case in point from what I hear about his ability as a halves coach.

man that's an absolute disgrace, I love Freddy as a player but as a coach he failed spectacularly at club level after early success. as for the players who threw this game ( if, indeed they did ) hang your heads in absolute shame for doing that to this great club. the only club to play in every year of the premiership , to do that to our jersey , very shameful. The stench from that game was so vile I smelt it from near Penrith that day.....

I remember the callers saying hang on the wooden spoon which was headed to Cronulla at half time had to have a police escort back to the SFS..

Some of the dropped balls in the second half, one or two with the wide line open by players who played or were to play at the international level were not even disguised......

2009 was a terrible year to be a Roosters supporter, I remember thinking that we would not be anywhere near a grand final for years and by the end of 2019 we won 3 premierships. I’m still buzzing about going back to back.

Our biggest problem now is that we need a bigger trophy cabinet.

is our culture. Has been for years. We think we can just buy good players and we will do well. But we buy too many and the wrong players. We dont try to put together a group of players who make a "team".

The exception was the early 2000's where we had alot of young guys who came through coupled with some experienced players who werent big names with ego's but great team players.

I have mentioned this before in my rants but I have spent alot of time with the Dolphins and seen them win many Qld cups with not the best players but the best team.

I hate to say it but we need to follow the Bulldogs lead and bring younsters through and couple them with buying players who will make a great culture and a great team.
