  • Looks like tansey may be staying at roosters after 2010 - if we still want him

this is an excerpt from an articcle from bbc sports about jordan tansey. luckily for us, it looks like he will be staying at bondi if we offer him a new contract - which we deffinatley should IMO after his current one expries.

Tansey also believes his move to Australia may prompt a fresh exodus from Super League, with players keen to chance their arm in the NRL.

"I'm sure some of the other Rhinos boys will get a chance to try and make it here, too, especially now that I've come over at a young age," he said.

"I reckon my move will change a lot of players' opinions about moving. Now I think we will see a lot more of the younger lads deciding to give it a go."

Tansey is due to stay at Sydney for two years and then head back to Leeds, who have retained his registration. But it must be hugely tempting to remain on Bondi Beach.

"I'm due back at Leeds in 2011, but if Sydney offered me another deal it would be very hard to turn down," he admitted.

"I'll be back in Super League one day, but whether that is next season or in five years' time, who knows? I'd hope when I do come back I'll be able to play for the Rhinos again. "

If Leeds do take Tansey back, they will find a very different man to the one who flew to the Roosters.

"I have grown and matured as a person as well as a player," he said. "Being away from your family on the other side of the world makes you grow up pretty quick. And I do really miss a nice cold pint of Yorkshire bitter!"

the effort he is showing is leading to him staying.

He has shown some good game play at full back. he is definatly growing and is doing all he can to earn his place.

i agree, he is still young and his best is still ahead of him.

IMO it should be a priority to sign him.

he reminds me of flannery in some ways when he was at his best, mainly beacuse of his utility.
if your read the full atricle it states that he can play fullback, hooker or halfback. handy bench impact player ATLEAST

Sure - He will go back to the UK a better player than he was...

He does not really offer too much to our team though...

I feel it is a bit of a waste of time..

i agree, but iIMO this the exact breed of player the roosters need atm. not immensley talented but rather a hark worker who trys his heart out.

that is excellent to hear. I really hope he is retained as he definitely isn't the best player in the team has been one of the few who have tried their best every time. Also I believe he will grow and mature into a better player. And possibly a long term hooker position if he gets larger and improves defense ?

Can anyone picture him lifting the premiership trophy?

                  I can't.

Agreed which is why we shouldn't hand him over to another team and watch him go great guns elsewhere.

Minichiello was the same at that stage of career. The problem with Politis and Easts is they want instant superstars...they cant wait. They arent patient and they dont have a plan.

IMO The Roosters management has a plan, but the plan doesnt involve building a team slowly. It involves buying players that will win us the comp next year, paying them huge amounts of money and losing some of our younger stars along the way.
I hope the Roosters sign on Tansey for a bit longer. He has heart.

When Minichello started playing on the wing he showed a lot more signs than Tansey has IMO...

I can't see Jake Friend making it either...

They will both be OK players but not those that may bring a premiership..

If Omelley and Mason go this year, ill say we will most likely sign Hunt on.
I would really like to sign a hooker on though. I really cant see Jaubs or Friend becoming a star hooker.
IMO Hunt would actually be a good signing, along with Carney, Pearce and Anasta we would have 4 attacking options, Hunt does have good ball skills.
I would also like to keep Mini on a incentive based contract. He has been one of our best wingers over the last 10 years, so thats where i would place him if Hunt came into the side.
Throw Tansey into that bunch, we could have him coming off the bench, having either him or Hunt hanging around the ruck for a loose ball or a quick pass. Ah dreams.
I know we have a salary cap but wouldnt it be nice.
