JT is an inspiration to all those about to hit 33.
Q - Do you think we will perform better with Gordon at fullback and Mitchell moved to the outside backs?
Q - Would moving Mitchell out wide be beneficial to his long term development?
Personally i think Robbo via unforeseen circumstances has made a meal of blooding our future stars.
Signing Gordon, albeit midway through the season, is a step in the right direction.
What is the age of being 33 so important? He's simply not of a talented enough standard to justify a year one deal. Why play Latrell Mitchell and have him gain experience for a year at first grade level then develop in a pre-season again to have this guy come in for a year. He is not what was Brett Mullins was when we signed him and our team is not looking for the final piece such as in 2002 or 2013.
A.Not much better. I don't believe our performances suffer from the back and I would prefer to see Latrell develop.
A. Not after a season playing at fullback.
We moved Maloney on because he was too old so we could sign another player who will be older when he arrives than when Maloney's requested 3 year agreement would have been up.
The club truly is going to shit
We moved on James Maloney because the club decided to go with Jackson Hastings why is that so hard to understand?
Those complaining so loudly should probably pull their head in .
The bottom line is, we leak like sieve, have a very inexperienced fullback who is costing us in defence and if Hastings is gone we lack a kicker.
Gordon is:
- A solid goalkicker
- A solid defender
- Still quite quick, will improve our attack
- A thorough professional - has a great attitude to his work which will rub off
- Will be cheap
I'm bloody happy with this. Those bemoaning this will regret their words early next year, and i'll be bookmarking this thread.
Latrell can move into the Centers/Wing and become the Inglis clone we know he can be without the pressure. Latrell in the 3/4 line also means we can punt Toupo.
1. Gordon
2. SKD
3. Mitchell
4. Copley
5. Ferguson
Pretty solid.
Copley is a worry. 350k. Haven't seen much of him. He's been injured a lot. Can he improve? (Defence, Attack, Pace ????)

I will forever be in therapy because of "The Maloney Factor'.
Said it plenty, 'Still in shock, still pissed off, still wanna know who the fark drove this)..............
age has sfa to do with a players ability. gal, corey parker, thursty smiff are current australian players all 33 and 34 yrs old. shit how old was Moz when he left and LOd. age = experience. experienced in the game, experience in how to preserve energy and save a bit for the right time. and to show the young blokes how enjoy footy and to win.

Yeah, and the club is only keeping Tupou coz they're secretly planning to leave the nrl and field a friggen basketball team.;.................
Fair dinkum, why waste your time typing crap like that?
I'm as pissed as anyone about the decision to let Jimmy walk, but don't stoop to inventing different reasons for it to suit an argument.
Gordon's signing reminds me of when Ricky signed old mate Brett Mullins. Many were up in arms then. They called him all sorts of things. He end up playing playing 26 games for us that year and scored a bag fall. An expired old dog. Stick played him on the wing instead of at fullback. The rest is history.
Give Gordon a go. Don't go off prematurely. He'd be on peanuts anyway - as was Mullins back in 02. He had an incentive based contract.
This is a terrible and weak decision to sign this old man. Why not just bring Mini back for another year. 2 months ago Gordon was a reasonable prospect to help out for 2016. To sign this old man for 2017 is ****ing pathetic. Mitchell is already a better player than this 33 year old journeyman. Absolutely weak as piss.
The difference between Gordon and Gallen, Smith, Thurston, Parker and co aside from the fact they are all Australian rep players and he isn't is that he's the only one of that group who plays in the outside backs where speed is one of the prime requisites. You could make a case and say JT needs pace, but not to the extent that a winger or fullback does. One of the first things you lose as you get older is your speed so there is always that concern with an outside back once they head towards mid-30's. It will be interesting to see how he goes, if he does in fact sign over here. Mullins was only 30 when Stuart brought him back over here, he definitely still had his speed that's for sure. I still say we would have won in 2003 if we had have been able to retain him for that season. There is no way Sattler would have run him down, and if he did, Mullins would have been smart enough to head back in field
