  • Storm Line Up

Their team still looks decent on paper.

Even without Slater, Smith and Cronk they have enough players that can cause problems.

Their attack has been only average in their last couple of matches so if we defend as well as we have then we are a real shot.

Once again it will come down to our discipline coming out of trouble. So far this has been deplorable.

    Easts in a tight one.

On paper, I still think we have a better team. Just depends whether T.Carney plays like the 2010 or 2011 version.

With Storm stars out I had this game down for a win. But the losses of SKD and Mini makes our depth look very thin.

Attitude will win this match, and over the past 2 weeks, this has been oozing from the team, especially in defence.

They need to get the attitude of "ALL WE DO IS ****IN' WIN" and that needs to be the theme of everything they do !

Celebrate every little victory. If they drop the ball, celebrate, if they get penalised, celebrate........

if we drop the ball, celebrate..........we have a chance to BELT them in defence !

Celebrate everything, get in their heads, make them think that nothing will get to you !!!

ALL WE DO IS ****IN' WIN !!!!

I'm a big fan of Perret, but to expecting any winger to be the difference between winning and losing is a big call! Especially one coming back from an injury.

Mmmm we are without Mini, Pearce, Perrett, SKD and Myles.
Carney's not going to blitz it, he's still strengthening his legs/groin and gettin his head straight.

Not writing us off, just saying... Slater, Smith and Cronk are 3 decent players. We have 3 players out on origin duties + lots of injuries. It will be tough - I hope we learn how to start scoring again! 3+ Tries would be good regardless of the result!!

That said how good would a win be?!?!? Our season really rests on the next few weeks. We can only afford to lose 3 or 4 more games. Last week + Melbourne + a bye is the boost we need!! Probably have us sitting on 9th/10th.

usually that'd be true, typical wingers aren't exactly game breakers or anything, but sammy is not a typical winger. If you watch the games he's played for us, he does so much work it's ridiculous, he's by far the hardest working winger in the NRL and we've missed him so much. I have to admit not even i realised how important he was to our team until he got injured. And given the number of players we have out he really could be the difference, i think i read somewhere that we're one of the lowest teams for metres made and tackle busts etc. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT PERRETT GIVES US!! Heaps of metres, heaps of tackle breaks and just an amazing ticker...he takes dummy half runs in the first set of the game and the last set of the game. You wouldn't think he's one of those game winning players cos he doesn't score those match winning tries or make those amazing plays (i.e. toddy, SKD etc.) but he's just as important to the team cos he gets us to that position where we can attack from, his runs set the platform for the set and you ask any of our forwards and they';d probably tell you how much they appreciate his efforts early int he sets. None of our other backs have the same impact out of dummy half (SKD comes close at times, but because of his frame often ends up getting pushed back by the forwards or dropping the ball), sammy has a low centre of gravity and one of the fastest play the balls i've seen in a long time.

Having said all that it really doesn't look like he's gonna make it for the storm game anyways, fingers crossed but he doesn't look likely. If he does come back this week i don't think he'd be too hampered by his time out, he's one of those blokes that has a simple role and knows what he needs to do, he goes out there and does it.

RR - I'm a big fan too, and there is nothing you have said about Sammy I disagree with! What you have reeled off sounds exactly like what I've said to others when watch the game at the pub!

I just think its a big ask to expect anyone coming back from injury to be the difference. Even for a winger that plays that plays like Sammy does.

hmmm yeh, reading over what i wrote i have to admit, i do make it sound as though he'll be THE determining factor in whether we win or lose...that's not what i was trying to say :P what i meant was that i'd be a lot more confident of our chances if sammy were to be there...sorry for the confusion :s
