well there are youngsters like Kennedy, Williamson, Symonds, Ahern, Stan Waqa, Earl, Towers, Tuigamala that are making great inroads in the lowergrades, some have played well in first grade.

Add to that players like, sisa waqa, Tansey, Friend, Jaubs, Maubs.

So i am sure that some of these ?'s ccan be filled in by these players.

The prob is most cannot tackle and they don't have a good attacking game. We are mainly lacking in offense like a speed machine ie. Jennings

        thats a contradiction isn't it.

You are saying our young boys cannot defend, yet you then say we need a player like Jennings, a player who, yes, is being touted for a NSW spot, but whos lack of defence has been brought to life in the SOO selection process.

          Jennings is a superstar

Jennings is a superstars the roosters young guns are not. We are coming last in Toyota cup, 2nd last in NRL & doing bad in nsw cup. We need to recruit current superstars ti kick start out team

this is the first year that jennings has shown promise, he has been in and out of firstgrade for the past couple of years.

you say our young guns are not super stars, and yes you are right, you cannot be a super star until you prove yourself in firstgrade.

Our young players show alot of promise, and yes we are performing poorly in all 3 grades, but that goes to prove that there is a problem with the way the club is being run rather than the lack of skill that people beleive our players have.

2 years ago, panthers fans thought nothing of jennings. now he is the flavour of the month.

Like i said in another thread about brett morris, what use is signing a player of such an attacking calibre when our game plan is so pedestrian and predictable ????

              Muzz youre 100% correct mate.

When we actually (rarely) go wide or put a move on we look good.

Our gameplan consists of inside balls and bombs. Good attacking wingers/centres would catch a cold at our club with its current structure.

The picking 1, 3, 4, 6, 9, 13 out of position is the stupidist thing ive seen ever in coaching, even worse than pRicky at his worst.

Most of last season we defended well, especially on our line. We kicked well, both long and in the air, and our forwards in attack gained plenty of yards. They are the BASICS in attack and we did them well. Then opposition coaches worked us out. Everyone realised thats all we had.

Now we cant even do the basics right.

Its not the game plan were lacking I think its individual brilliance. JENNINGS HAS ALWAYS BEEN AWESOME. He showed his potential years ago. I mean you can't loose speed its natural. Having the likes of Jennings or Morris means tries. We don't need plays to break lines. They just have an instinct and natural ability. Jennings and Morris posses that.

sisa waqa and ryan williamson are both very quick in the jennings catagory, but neither are going to shine the way the team is playing at the moment.

just remember our u20 side is really an u19 side that won the the SG ball comp last year. they are suffering at the moment as they have players like cordner, kennedy, williamson ect out injured. i recon they will get better as the season goes on, and be a big force next year.

Ive NEVER seen a side win a comp that has TWO options in attack. The inside ball and the bomb.

We dont have players in motion running decoys. We dont have blokes running different lines. We dont have blokes backing up when we do rarely make breaks or are able to offload. We fail to execute the outside ball dummy runner successfully, its always called for obstruction. FFS we dont even put on a basic run around. We also have no tactics to run from dummy 1/2 when we get the opposition on the back foot.

Its not LACKING gameplan thats the problem, its the fact a gameplan doesnt exist IMO.

Seriously whens the last time our centres or wingers have seen the ball in space thru a nice backline movement???

What good is induvidual brilliance when you cannot play as a team.

One player doing it all for you will only get you so far, they may score a try or 2, but when your team plays like the roosters did last night, induvidual brilliance means nothing for the team.

We have plenty of players that have the skills to play, we have a plethora of international and state players, grandfinal winners and other rep players, yet they look like the paddo tigers under 6's !

look at the sides that Jennings and morris are playing in at the moment, both sides that are playing great structured and diciplined games, they have halves that will distribute the ball and create opportunities and are playing with a game plan that is effective.

Like i said, it is all good that we have players with induvidual brilliance, but if we cannot actually play as a team, induvidual brilliance will only mask problems, not fix them.

We need to buy younger faster forwards.
sure we have a lot of problems in our back line and defense but it all leads back to our forwards. Every time O'Meley, Mason, Myles (at times) and even Fitzy run they take to long to play the ball and puts pressure on our backs.

Lopini Paea is our only forward who looks dangerous and shows any promise when he runs and always gets a quick play the ball

.. and Im not to sure what Peter O'Sullivan has done since he was been our recruitment officer. Since he was been here we have signed Koupiritsas and few wingers and have let go Soliola. Also im not sure if this Pete O'Sullivan 's fault but letting go James Tamou was always going to be a mistake. as he was our most promising foward last year in the NYC. If changes are not made we are going to be in trouble in the future.
