We can all bang on about how lack lustre our attack is - losing three strike players - in particular losing Maloney, we could forgive some of the ridiculous maneuvres that we've seen from the team this season. But by far our biggest problem this year has been the horrible efforts in defence by those on our fringes, something completely inexcusable for a club that needs to do a better job at managing its transitions. Copley was one of the worst buying decisions ever made by our club, Fergo belongs on the wing with Aubo on one centre and Elliot on the other purely from a defensive standpoint. This year should have been about grinding out matches, buildin some hardy resolve and strong attitudes - not throwing the ball around randomly and forgetting how to shut down stock standard plays. Where we go from here I'm not sure but plugging our fringes should be first priority.

Defence on the edges our biggest disappointment this year

Our edge D has been a shambles!
The lack of trust and communication between our outside backs is park footy like.
We miss Jennings lateral speed on the left edge. Fergo's decision making down the right is so painful to watch.
Our 2017 backline looks good but will need to focus on D during the off-season. Gordon at FB and his organisational skills should improve things significantly.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

Disappointment is being kind, it's completely unacceptable and on Trent's head...especially when you consider a club like the Storm who have brought in 2 centres mid-season due to injuries in their backline and they are the best defensive side in the league. It's all in the head and it should have been fixed MONTHS ago, no idea what Trent has been doing to remedy this but clearly not a whole lot that is working.

in the game today centre is such an important decision, especially defensively. If Robbo plays Copley and Fergo in the centres any further then he is demonstrating he doesn't care about the basics. i would love to see how latrell goes in the centres, if he can read the edges and be dominant in most one on ones then maybe he's our long term option. His connecting play in the backline is way off the mark - doesn't know when to pass, kick, run - communication not strong enough yet - he is an individualist until he builds his confidence and can start barking orders at his team mates. Centre will give him an opportunity to build that confidence. Also Hastings needs to either step up or step out - a very poor communicator in attack and got completely bumped in defence.
