  • I am reading some cracking excuses

    Injuries
    Referees
    Conspiracy.
    Origin

    What a load of horseshit.
Last night was typical of what has been happening all year.
The inability to play controlled footy.
There is inadequate depth and a lack of courage and application. There is absolutely no faith in each other and what is symbolic of the inability to score points is the lack of belief in themselves.

This is a really bad situation to be in.
Smith has lost the ship( surprise!), the recruitment seems dire, the club spirit seems really low.
This means that next year is no good either.
Then in 2013 we improve and Brian gets a new deal.
    Awful.

Has anyone factored the effects of those rumors on poor Todd Carney?
He looks like a shadow of the guy he was last year and one must come to the conclusion that the emotional work he is doing on himself is distracting him from the primitive expectations of being a first grade footballer. Trust me, clubs don't really want players to think too much they want them to perform. It reminds me of Tim Smith, once diagnosed and probably medicated he lost his instinctual drive and his footy went to the dustbin.

I cannot stand that body builder that is playing in the centers, the ex Canberra winger.
Typical athlete who has been turned into a footy player without and feel for how to play the game.FTR, I like BJ, but who doesn't?
    barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

I don't know how you can separate out the effect of injuries and referees in particular but you are right with most of the remainder of your comments. There is far more to the picture of what is turning out to be another annus horribilis (aka 2009).

Honestly though we were missing 15 players last night. That will impact any team

Can you blame TC for being like that? Considering the vendetta that was thrust upon the bloke by certain aspects of the media !

As a person, I feel for him.

As a footballer, I have no sympathy. These blokes are being paid huge money because of the media. The money in the game comes from TV and related advertising and sponsorship - fuelled by the papers.

Like it or not, this game is a business now and the high paid employees need to perform off the field as well as on it. So far this season, Carney has done neither.

That is why I much prefer the hill at Henson Park to the SFS but that's just me.

But thats just the thing, while it is a business and is expected to perform, he is still a person who has been affected by an intense media campaign to rub him out of the game.

Regardless of how much a person gets paid, obstacles like that are difficult to over come.

I don't disagree but he has put himself in the situation (over a long period of time) and he needs to decide if he can deal with it or whether he would prefer to go to Super League with the rest of the blokes who couldn't hack all that comes with playing in the NRL.

I'm starting to think he may be more trouble than he is worth.

if he does not get himself out of the hole he is in, he will be more trouble than he is worth !

It goes with the territory. Last year he was dynamite. this year a pop gun. The highs and lows of his performances go with the personaility. the roosters the gamble because it is very difficult to recruit such players.

2005 was year of the rooster but that ended in tears

All those excuses are somewhat valid but team harmony isn't so belief and momentum goes out the window
