Who is the best hooker and/or best prospective hooker in our team?
As much as i have heaped shit on Pearce, i have said for the last 5 or so years Pearce would be a brilliant 9 and would play long term for NSW and succeed Smith at national level, he has not got the smarts for the 7 role. at 9 he gets early ball, has a quick pass, kicking from dummy half and good leg speed.

Totally agree.
It's pure coincidence that Matty Johns came out with his comments the day after my post.
The one key area Mitch seems to consistently fall short in is decision making under pressure. It's not his fault - hey, we all have strengths and weaknesses.
But his strengths certainly align to the rake position.

I think what this thread highlights is that we have many prospective candidates for hooker, half, 5/8 and sub. We clearly have more players than we can sustain and someone will go.
Great to see Garvey being mentioned. Wish Watson had more game time. Only Robbo and a select few know Robbo's plans. Clearly experience is needed and this year provides that opportunity. Clearly something is wrong within the club and these are complex issues to consider and manage. Far more challenging to resolve than under-performing 2nd rower who hogs the ball and no-confidence winger who's played handful of good games in 2 seasons.
