  • Injured players - when are they back?

We have quite a number of good players out with injury. Not to mention SOO duties.
5 of our 7 starting backs from last year's GF were not available this week as well as a number of forwards.
So who actually knows the status of these injuries and if/when they will be back?

Pez - was close yesterday so I assume will be back after the bye.
    SKD
    Linnett
    Maubs
    Kennedy
    Masoe
    Tasi
    Naughton
Cherri - heard may be back for the last couple of rounds but doubt he will be risked now.
    Conn - season

Most of these would be walk up starts into first grade.

And most of these must be pretty close to being able to play.

This should be our strongest team with no injuries.

    1/ Mini
    2/ BJ
    3/ Linnett
    4/ SKD
    5/ Pez
    6/ Carney
    7/ Pearce
    8/ Ryles
    9/ Friend
    10/ Kennedy
    11/ Anasta
    12/ Myles
    13/ Guerra

    14/ JWH
    15/ Masoe
    16/ Cordner
    17/ Tasi

That's with Maubs, Symonds, JCarney, Mitchell, Arona, FPN, Pritchard and Naughton as backups.

If we can get close to this team at the back end of the season we will make the 8.

Maubs is gone for the season he had a shoulder operation last week
Masoe is gone for the season with a neck problem
Cherro will not play this season
Conn has retired with neck problem
Kennedy has stress fractures in his foot, his return is unknown, if we are out of contention he might not play again this season
Linnett could join Maubs and have a shoulder reconstruction to get ready for next year.

He will need to sign an extension for that to happen.

Vasco he doesn't fit our recruitment policy for outside backs, he has speed and positional sense we only go for big/slow polynesians

Kennedy and Linnett are the main concerns from that list. The others are covered barring more injuries.

Whilst I'd have Maubs in front of Guerra, the point is obvious and valid. Injury free teams have more depth, more competition for spots, more options week in week out. Manly are flying right now. Who are they missing from injury? no one.

Gee I hope they do. After SKD, he is the best centre we have (by a mile).

                    Next season:

                    Minichiello
                    Perrett
                    Kenny-Dowall
                    Linnett/Symonds
                    Leilua
                    Carney
                    Pearce
                    Kennedy
                    Friend
                    Ryles (should sign extension)
                    Anasta
                    Aubusson
Cordner (tie this kid up, he looks outstanding)

                    Mitchell/Symonds
                    Nuuausala
                    Hargreaves
                    Masoe

Reserve props - Tasi and Evans (NYC)
Reserve backrowers - Arona, Guerra, Cherrington, Lowe (NYC)
Reserve backs - J Carney, Pritchard, Naughton, Blair (NYC)
Reserve utility - Mataka, Dumbrell (NYC)

Evans, Lowe, Blair and Dumbrell are the 4 NYC kids who I think can make the step up to first grade next year.

So in other words we'll finish 11th.

Screw it, this year is a right off. All players carrying injuries need to be fixed.

Horry, is it true that Kennedy's foot fracture is career threatening, I heard whispers he had a similar injury to that of former AFL star Trent Croad from Hawthorn who had to retire after several operations on his foot to fuse together stress fractures.
