That said, I still don't understand what has happened to our attack. Round 1 (with Carney not playing), we had plenty of bodies in motion, players running angles, running at holes, Pearce directing play nicely. Where did it go? Surely Smith didn't tell them to STOP doing that?!
I only watched that game again last week, bewildered, thinking if only we were playing like that now, with our defence we'd be carving this comp up like grand finalists should.

Our defence has improved, but at the cost of a primal ability to hold onto the ball.

    Chook.

Hard to be critical, Hard to be Critical????
JT your always critical of the slightest of error Mini has but last night because he wasn't playing, it's all OK. I suppose that dropping the ball numerous of times, getting pushed over the side and giving dumb penalties..is OK? Being a rookie you don't get excused for doing that. There are other sides that have had more players out than us at some stage...Remember Manly when they played us? And yet they gave us a hiding with a reserve side. Come on mate..You're being as consistent as the referees with that one.

Manly were missing 15 of their top 30 in round 2????

          Brett Stewart
          Michael Robertson
          Young Hoppa
          T-Rex
          David Williams
          Foran
          Cherry-Bomb
          Gorgeous George
          Ballin
          Kite
          Watmough
          Gulavao
          Buhrer

          Seu Seu
          Mauro
          Robinson
          Harrison

Other than the bench thats a pretty strong team and much better then anything we've put on the field in recent weeks.

Carney cannot do what he did last year. Teams have woken up and do not rush up on him. They hold their line and let him crab across field. Without runners and players in motion, he will be ineffective. Unless the players are told to stand back waiting for the ball before they run, our game plan needs an overhaul

I think that Smith needs to do some explaining. Even a reserve grade outfit like Melb looked structured. Our attack has looked unstructured all year, and that is with the seasoned FGer's there
Melbourne didn't have a reserve grade team last night. They were missing their three top players but the majority of their team was in tact. They were always going to look structured last night - they were however going to be missing a lot of their brilliance. And so it went.

Ok...so I must have been Dreaming when I thought we were the hottest of favorites for that game.

We were hot favourites to beat Cronulla both times we played them last year...what does the odds have to do with your statement that Manly were missing as many players as what we were last night?

We were favoutires because we smacked Souths the week before and Manly lost to Melbourne and were missing Lyon and G. Stewart while we had Carney back. On paper we should have won.

But they definately didn't have 10 regulars out.

Cronulla is not Manly. We always lose to Cronulla, full strength or not. Maybe you should try and get a hold of the news articles of that game and it will show you how happy Manly were to beat us having a very weakened team. Nothing about betting dude! It was about how everyone not included us fans, was saying we should easily beat them. I think even Fatty Vautin was backin us. That's what I base my statement!!! And not because we thumped Souths either. Get that Jack!

WE lost that game to Manly because we were pathetic in the second half, we were cruising at half time, then discipline and common sense went out the window, Egos came to the fore in that game, it has continued since
