I am a little bit pissed off at Johnny Tobin because I was going to use the same analogy last week in a thread and never got the time to write it. Jake pretty much thinks he has Cameron Smith's ability and as result like you said thinks he can make the clutch play's for the team. The sad fact is his ability is more like Kurt Sherlock's and the results are what we are getting. Third tackle kicks that no one is ready for, forward passes, intercept passes, drop balls trying to score tries.

I get sick to death of hearing Oh Jake has to make SOOOO many tackles crap, if you take tackle assist's out of the number it wouldn't be that many at all (Half at the most) How many dominant or one on one tackles does he make ? He does CONTRIBUTE to alot of tackles as the big guys run at him as all big forwards do run at the smaller guys but that's pretty much it. His MAIN job is to be a good dummy half and in that he fails miserably. Jake is a Supercoach superstar.

Plus if you take him and his stupid repeated errors out of the team, we would have more of the ball and less defending to do generally.

I know this thread is about Friend but I must say my favourite player JWH has lost his intimidating factor & so has Napa. I think that has a lot to do with Friends slip in form.

I am unashamedly a Jake Friend devotee.

I would never punt him. I do know the game is in the balance with 5 min to go and good old Fergo knocks it on trying the miracle pick up play.
Cronulla were crap last night and we still got beat. They weren't even taking our boys seriously and we got pumped.

Jake is holding his own a team that isn't, he is going better than most think. Thank faark this place is only allowed to cast opinion.

Friend has never won us a game of footy in his career. He never will. He is not creative, his kicking game is shit, and his decision making in the attacking 20 is woeful. His only good seasons have been when he has had an ultra strong attacking leader (Carney or Maloney) calling the shots for him to fall in line behind. Pearce's career can be summed up pretty much the same way, although he did have a few incredible games towards the end of last year.

The problem with our club is that we have elevated these follower players like Friend and Pearce into being the core leaders of our squad, while treating the natural leaders like disposable commodities. Now Pearce, friend, and a few other ce chuckle heads are taking up so much of our cap that we can't afford to attract any genuine attacking leadership to the club.

We have 4 blokes in our core - Pearce, Friend, Fergo, Guerra - that would be the last people in the team you'd want with the ball in hand in the dying moments of a game of footy trying to win you a game. A team can never be successful when it's built on a foundation like that

my sports teams are the Roosters in league, Everton in EPL, Mets in baseball, and Vikings in NFL. you might say I'm a glutton for punishment.

You might also say that my undying support for the club doesn't extend to just blindly agreeing with every decision it makes. We are a glamour club that is run on the notion of instant success and big gamble signings. Always have been. It's actually an endearing quality as all the shit they put us through makes the victories that much sweeter. Supporting the Storm or Broncos would be boring and soulless.
