Those Millionaires pay a fortune to belong to Nicks Chairmans Circle and Gyng does his bit to get us great tv timeslots so our sponsorships are worth more

Theres no onus to pay up, just if you want to like every other charity request

I have no problem with the club asking for donations but I do question the performance of the people who are going to be spending it.

A quick google search on Lachlan Penfolds previous performance results at the Brisbane Lions doesnt make for great reading.

He took over after the clubs 2004 grand final appearance.

      Brisbane Lions finishes since 2005

      2005 11th
      2006 13th
      2007 10th
      2008 10th
      2009 6th (lost 1st Semi Final)
      2010 13th

He was then let go when Michael Voss was appointed head coach at the end of 2010.

Now while you can't put all the blame on Lachlan for the situation we currently find ourselves in, it certainly doesnt fill me with any great hopes for the future. Nor does it have me reaching for the wallet.

I think they hit up the Chairman's Club at the beginning of last year and raised a similar amount. Noyce made mention of it at the awards dinner

So we know who's not going to donate, is there anyone who will?

To be honest I haven't seen the letter yet but so long as they're not asking for a huge ammount I'd be more than happy to.

I understand people's frustration and it has come after a very bad time, although when you consider that tax returns will be hitting us soon this intended letter was probably always timed for around now.

It's embarrassing. Sure they're not holding a gun to anyone's head, but for a professional sporting organisation and supposed "glamour club" to be asking members to donate money to pay for training facilities is laughable.

For them to be willing to go through that embarrassment tells you one thing - the overall financial position is not good

Fred if you already used the picture as toilet paper I think it is a little unhygenic that you are still using it as a dart board.

Maybe Freddy was confused and accidentally wiped his arse with the darts instead ?

                    Spot on.

They have professional athletes who could auction off gear, host a dinner etc etc etc - why are they asking us for money for nothing? Host a ****ing event you lazy bastard of a club if you want some cash, you aren't a ****ing charity.

How can you honestly call yourselves supporters of this CLUB? I bet you'd give money if the TEAM was doing well.

Unbelievable. No-one is bigger than this club...especially its fickle 'supporters'.
what are you talking about? Your post makes no sense at all.

They should be asking for donations to buy glue for the players hands who constantly drop the ball, donations for new brains for our wingers and centres who constantly run into touch all game, donations for new brains for the players that constantly give away stupid repeated penalties, donations for a new foot for anasta so that he doesn't kick off on the full all the time etc.

Now that would be a worthy cause to donate to that may see actual improvement happen on the field.

That's funny. But the letter from noyce enclosed the brochure which contained the picture of peter o'sullivans brother. So the letter and brochure are separate items. Letter used as toilet paper, the brochure used as a dart board. I recommend it.

That would actually be less painful than watching our team
                              play this year.

Its a footy club and barring about 6 in the whole world they require the fans to kick the tin to keep running
