The more I see of this season the more I think the problem can be summed up in 3 words. RTS, Maloney, Jennings.
They are all 'off the cuff' players. They gave us an X factor. Even when we played crap Roger would slide through the defence 10 metres out, Jennings would ground a grubber kick 10cm in from the dead ball line for a try, or Maloney would make a break out wide.
We no longer have those players that are outstanding attacking weapons. That can take advantage of great field position.
The Club took a punt on younger, cheaper players and it's backfired.

You could replace him with steady Eddy and get the same result

That's the problem...everybody says get rid of Pearce, but when you ask what the alternative is, nobody has a realistic or worthwhile response.

The realistic view is that getting rid of Pearce would release a lot of $$$ then you could go and shop for someone better. At the end of the day, since his return and other than the Bulldogs game, he hasn't done much. We may as well lose with a junior in his place because at the end of the day, all the loses look the same. Pearce is going backwards and so is the team.

That's assuming we find somebody to take him onboard at full freight. Otherwise we are left topping a contract of a player who plays for another club.

Off contract at the end of this year we have Kodi Nikorima, Sam Williams, Harry Seijka, Cameron Cullen, Pita Godinet, Isaac John, Cooper Cronk, Blake Green, Mitch Cornish, Luke Kelly, Corey Norman, Jeff Robson, Benji Marshall and Jack Littlejohn.

Of those listed only two would be a better option than Pearce, Cronk and Norman. Problem is those 2 will more than likely re-sign with their current club in the upcoming days.

The pickings are far better the following season, so I would suggest we are stuck with Pearce for at least another 12 months.

SO we'd only be replacing Friend with a clone..

I read somewhere yesterday or the day before that Pearce would be highly sought after when his contract expires but that he would remain loyal to the roosters to get us back to the finals..

More the disdain that is building. I used to feel like the one eyed man in the country of the blind but now a lot of people are regaining the sight in their eyes.

It will be interesting to see what comes of Kieran Foran. I dont think the Roosters are in the hunt for Foran.
If Foran signs with the Bulldogs they will release Mbye or Reynolds more than likely Reynolds. I know Reynolds isnt the most popular player but I would like to see him at the Roosters the club he followed growing up. He could play 5/8 with plenty of energy with either Hastings if he remains Watson or Keary playing halfback.
I would then move Pearce to hooker & release Friend but if that was not feasible release Pearce & keep Friend.

Honestly HC,between Keary,Hastings,Watson,Matterson and Nikorima we would have to make do until we buy a specialist moving forward..
With or without Pearce we are in the same position this year, still losing games..
Pearce has embarrassed the Club countless times and sadly the Club has continued to support him despite his lack of talents..
The quicker the Coach grows a pair and either drops or releases him,the quicker we start moving forward again..
In saying all this,I still have no faith in Robinson of letting go of his infatuation with Pearce to move him on..

ON the contrary to the whiners such as Ray, i've always been a big Pearce fan.

While not in the top echelon of halfbacks, you can never fault his hunger and enthusiasm on the footy field. And his skillset, whilst it has weaknesses, is up there with the best in certain facets. Nikorima is not even close - I hope the kid does well, but he is fragile as all f**k both mentally and physically. The bloke told the media he was 'mentally scarred' from his experience in first grade, yet Ray Stehr wants him to lead the team around? Give me a break...

Our team has always performed at its peak with Pearce beside a creative running 5/8th, and we will have a very good one in the No.6 to start 2017.

My only complaint is value - I think Pearce is worth paying good money for, but not 900K IMO.

I'm a Robbo fan, or at least I thought I was.

He really needs to make some tough calls. If Maloney and Jennings, etc were his calls then he was wrong. It's now time to make more tough calls. I don't know if he's 100% responsible for the decisions or Nick, POS & co, are the decision makers.

Whatever happens he needs to jump up and down, spit the dummy, throw the toys out of the cot, and force some change. Develop a strategy. Do we have one? Have we ever?

If some tough decisions are not made soon then were are really farked in 2017. It would be great for the club and fans if they win 1 or 2 more this year. Sadly, I think that we have completely forgotten how to grind out a win and may even get the spoon. Fark the quality of the team on paper, more than half those players are not the same ones they used to be.
