Can't see how Watson has been in our system a few years. He left school in 2014 - he only just turned 20. Nikorima didn't join the Roosters to not play 1st grade immediately.

He didn't join to play starting 5/8 with Hastings either. And I'm sure he wasn't training to play in thay position when Pearce had his little incident. He was bought to play a utility role. He wasn't ready at all.

some talk after missing out on Hayne the Eels will use some of that money to pair up Hastings with Norman.

why stop there they can have Fergo/Guerra as well.

Considering he hadn't played a first grade game for anyone, I'd argue that he wasn't ready to play 80 minutes at 5/8 in an injury/suspension ravaged team. But whatever. It is what it is.

He'd compliment Norman well I think. I reckon he will end up at the dragons with farah.

I see what you're saying, but IMO it's like any job. You put people in positions that suit their qualifications/experience.

For example a graduate accountant with PWC is probably gonna be super intelligent, and far more capable than most grads (given how competitive their recruitment process is). But... they won't be expected to do EVERYTHING like a partner would from day 1. Their salary/role will be proportionate with their skills/experience.

Most halves (including guys like JT) start off as utilities while they are on junior NRL contracts.

                      I don't agree with Fergo.

I have a feeling that we are going to see some quality football from Fergo from here on, Especially in 2017.

He looks like he is finally switched on.

Agree - happy to give Fergo another chance to see what he can do next season, particularly since his last 2 games have been very good!

You may be right. I hope you are.

But there is no escaping the fact that he has been a disgrace this season in both attack and defence.

Thurston was a utility on the bench for the Dogs when Ricky Stuart, as coach of the Roosters, said 'he's too small, he'll never make it in first grade' to Steve Folkes so it's wise not to write off a player early on.

He was signed to give some bench impact, not play starting halfback alongside Hastings and with a pack including guys like Vunacke, Frei and the likes of Guerra and Fergo playing like absolute busted's. All credit to Watson, he has taken his chance and performed, he can't do anymore than that and definitely has earnt his opportunity. I just wouldn't write off Nikorima in the future, though he may have to find another club down the track. I still think Watson can turn out like Craig Wing, he probably needs a couple years off the bench or playing some 5/8 but as his skills progress I still think he can make the move to hooker.

Speaking of Watson, he's to be ruled out this week. Matterson coming in to the halves.
