Will the Blues players play to Stuarts fiddle and miss 2 rounds before game 3? more importantly, would Ricky have let HIS players do the same when he was a NRL coach? Bloody selfish I think.

Pearce was interviewed on the news tonight and said that the players need to back up for their clubs.

      Good to see.

        Not going to happen.

Unless Origin becomes stand alone and regular games are suspended for 3-4 weeks, one Origin game per week, Ricky is dreaming. this will never happen as ch9 will not allow only one game per week.

Although the current system is not ideal for club teams losing key players, those that pay the big bucks for tv rights need as many games per week as possible. Money talks!

Stuart reckons he does it all for the players, I reckon he does it all for himself.

The fact that there were rumblings that Stuart knew the refereeing and the way they would referee it, before he picked his team suggests that.

Let's see what happens for game three, now that there is a decider.
Yeah fair point. If Stuart had an inkling about how the game was going to be ref'd, he'd be mad not to pick a taylor made side.

It'll be interesting to see if he changes players/style for the third game.

            Chook.

Interesting stuff, do you think this is another step in the direction of having athletes as opposed to footballers ?

They have been athletes for a while now.

Not many forwards these have ball skills like Bryan Fletcher or John Cartwright.

A one off. The big difference in origin is the low penalty counts. Ricky Stuart is using that to his advantage by playing a super fast game with smaller players, but in your average NRL game with a lot more stoppages you need the big boppers.

Watching the Broncos last night they are a prime example of the more agile pack. A lot of their players have a very similar body build across the park, ie they are all built like backrowers, even their big boppers are not that big, Hannant, Glenn, Thiaday.

                    Chook.

Comes down to how the game is refereed really I guess. There will always be a place for the big boys to some degree, to what extent probably depends on the rules and how they are interpreted at any particular time. Speed the game up or cut back the number of interchanges and they probably have less influence, slow the game down a bit or increase interchanges, they come back into their own.

The powers that be seem to change their minds on these things from year to year so the predominance of the big fellas will probably ebb and flow accordingly.

Yeah good points. I hope the big units never do become redundant, nothing like a good clash up front to get you interested in any game. I miss the one on one's. Morley and Beattie. Morley and Tallis. Morley and Vilisanti. Morley and Guttenberg.

We sadly don't have those one on one's anymore.

                        Chook.
