People may not agree but the effort put into it has to be appreciated. Well done.

I think most fans agree what the major problems were. Apart from the pre-season distractions, Maloney should definitely have been the priority re-signing after losing RTS. The powers that be got that wrong big time! Guerra used to be a spinning, try-scoring whizz, but was ineffective. Up and down form of players like Ferguson and Tupou, Pearce's absence was telling. Hastings couldn't cope with the responsibility of being the major playmaker, (though a bit more work with Pearce and a bit more patience might have produced something in the future.... Connor Watson has been a revelation, though!). In general, errors in attacking positions killed us in many games. The good news is we were in many games right till the end. It was astounding to read towards the end of the year that if the Roosters had've won all the games they lost by 4 points or less, they would've been fourth on the ladder! No need to panic with the coach in my opinion, and was glad to see him re-signed. They may not win the comp next year, but you can bet they'll finish better than 15th.

Not sure where you read that if we had won those games we would of been in the 4. We lost 7 games by 4 points or less, which would of put us on 30 points and in 8th position. And thats not counting if every other team in the comp used the same theory, we then wouldn't have made the 8.

Let's not sugar coat an atrocious season.

Johnny, are you a sponsor of anyone? I heard a whisper a while ago that might explain your feelings....

The purchase of Gordan deserves more credit. For a team that lost 8 games by 4 or less, a 84% goalkicker wins you those games (ala Maloney) and we are still competing in September.

Unless Watsons learns how to pass and even kick, he will be bench at best. I love his speed, but unless the previously stated skills are enhanced, he is a replacement hooker or potential fullback, but we have plenty of them.

I'm not convinced that goal kicking is necessarily all about ability. It’s no doubt an important part of the game and there are players who are just naturally better at it but it’s something that can be taught IMO.

If you take out Jimmy's 3 seasons with us he's a 75% career goal kicker.

                      Warriors 2010 - 75.26%
                      Warriors 2011 – 74.55%
                      Warriors 2012 – 76.14%
                      Roosters 2013 – 87.10%
                      Roosters 2014 – 83.46%
                      Roosters 2015 – 82.81%
                      Sharks 2016 – 77.27%

Jackson Hastings kicked at 83.87% this year and if you take out Taukeiaho’s first two games where he was at 50% or under he kicked his next 24 out of 28 (85.71%)

I feel like if you’ve got a player with an above average kicking game and you invest in the right coaches it’s not hard to develop an 80%+ kicker these days.

It would be interesting to see a breakdown where those kicks were kicked from in each season. I like how the AFL give you a screen shot of how a goal kicker has kicked from the spot on the ground where they are attempting to kick from(tells you goals and behinds from that spot)

Jackson also missed one from infront.

Fox showed a prelim final between penrith and norths in 91, darryl haligan was the kicker for norths, norths scored 3 tries to 2 and the final score was 16-14 to penrith, darryl kicked 1 from 5!! Pressure obviously plays a big part, which is why it was so good having maloney kick 5 for 5 in our grand final.

Easts had the better kicking coach or Trents attention to details is atleast 5% better than his others?

I didn't do any calculations....it was on the Fox Sports website. It was a story some weeks before the end of the season. (I coated it with only a hint of sugar...there was plenty of sour in there too).

That article was saying that if every game that was decided by 4 points or less was reversed then we'd be in the top 4.

It wasn't just our games it was everyones.

I watched that game the other day mil Norths had some good players. Their 1994 team was a real good side they would have won the comp but they just couldnt beat the Raiders in the final series. That Raiders side was awesome it was probably on par with the Roosters 74 side. The 1974 Roosters GF team was the best team I have ever seen.
