  • Pearce will play No.9 for State of Origin.

I'm calling it now. Other than only having R Farah and Peats to dodge to the spot, I think is previous pairing with Maloney will be the key.. Thoughts..?

Good call. I actually thought about this a week or so ago.

The only other option at this stage (in my mind, not the dumb selectors) is Peter Wallace.

A spine of Tedesco-Moylan-Maloney-Pearce/Wallace looks pretty good to me.

Lord help us all if they stick with Farah.

No, it would be better if they put an actual number 9 there, not someone who has never played there in his life.

If he is fit ,and stays off the grog , he will be have the 7 on his back next year.

              Peats will be 9.
              Reynolds will 7

I had to check I didn't post this in a somnambulistic state this morning. Even though I don't think he's a great halfback, he'd be an even worse hooker.

No chance whatsoever. There's no way you can just throw a 7 into dummy half. It's a specialist position which Pearce has not played before.

Your post makes perfect sense man but it's the chookpen and we expect a lot of imbecilic ideas.

He has changed positions at club level. Not so uncommon. This thread suggests that Pearce (our number 7) will be chosen to play a foreign position in the toughest arena.
I never suggested Pearce cannot play 9, I just suggest that it's a specialist position. Whoever NSW chose at 9 next year will be a regular 9 for their club.

I can't remember, but did johns and toovey play nsw hooker without playing that position for their club?

Thanks Milanja, I was going to suggest that same ( Johns) previous scenario. His defence, fitness, speed, big game experience and kicking options would suit origin. It's also a safe hedge for any coach who wishes to involve him considering his well documented previous attempts.
