Garvey can be eased into first grade off the bench over a couple years. Honestly I'd give friend the punt this off season if I had my way and start Pearce there in 2017. Pearce won't throw a tanty about having to come off for 10-15 mins per half like Jakey does either

Friends childish handling of Hastings this season has shown he is absolutely not captain material and has developed some sort of Farah like ego. Alas the club loves him

But it would be a stretch to say he would be better than Josh Hodgson or Smith within 12 games. Both read the game better than him at the moment.

Meh, Smith can't even pass the ball both directions. Most of the great stuff Smith does has zero to do with being a hooker - its all his cheating ****ery that makes him so good. He isn't actually a good league player, much in the way that's ritchie McCaw wasn't actually a good union player, just a tremendously brilliant cheat. The game will be better for it once Smith is out of it.

Hodgson is a great hooker though. He should have a dally M medal in his drawer right now but was robbed on account of not being Australian (no foreigner will ever win an outright Dally M).

Let's just say Pearce will be the best Aussie hooker. He would never replace **** Smith of course as he has a mortgage on that jersey till he retires, but Pearce would walk straight into it after that
