  • Drums beating for Napa...

Talking to Broncos people who tell me that they are hell bent on getting Dylan Napa to Red Hill asap.

I first watched him as a 12yr old up here playing rep for Met North at the State Championships and I liked him from then. Obviously he had that breakout game against the Rabbits' much vaunted pack earlier on this year that made everyone sit up and take notice, but like most young props has struggled a bit with consistency. I would hate us to do all the hard "breaking him in" work, easing him into the team, showing patience with him, teaching him his craft, etc., only to see him slip away when he reaches his prime.

PARTICULARLY if he goes to the filthy Broncos. If he does they'll claim that it was them who developed him, as they like to claim they've developed every junior Rugby League player born anywhere from the Logan Motorway North to Rockhampton and West to Birdsville and Longreach; an area of about 772 000 square km.

Hope we keep him. I know you can't keep everyone, but I really hope we keep him.

They are also trying to get Semi Radradra. This follows David Mead's recent decision to forego a $400K a year contract with the Titans for a Big Mac and a coke offered by Wayne.

If nick wants him he will triple the offer, actually the old nick would, this nick just keeps letting people slip through his fingers.

Yep exactly. The recruitment and retention of the last 18 months has me more than a little concerned that we are now stuck with the 'new' Uncle Nick. I hope he is still firing on all cylinders

Over the years Queenslander Nick has lost his knack - his warped romanticism with Qld a prob.He has signed off on some real dud Queensland players over the years. They are nothing but users and freeloaders. Napa in 4yrs of top grade showed little laedership in 2016 much like his queensland mate Guerra and the pathetic signing of qld Copley to replace Jennings. If Napa stays I hope he pulls his finger out and increases his speed.

For a 23 year old prop Dylan Napa is an exceptional prospect and Wayne Bennett knows it. Losing him would be a devastating blow for us as he's still only a baby in front rower terms, we've already invested so much time into his development and he's going to be a rep player for the next 10 years.

He averaged just under 60 minutes a game this year which a huge effort for such a young front rower, there's definitely parts of his game that he still needs to fix but year on year there has been noticeable improvement in his game.

There were a lot of questions surrounding his attack entering this season but I felt like he addressed a lot of that, he was guilty in the past of getting dominated in yardage hitups quite frequently but it was noticeable that he changed his running style in the off-season. He now leads a lot more with his hip, to the point where he's almost getting side on when making contact and it works for him he was very dominant in contact this year.

The only downside to his play is that he was guilty of missing too many tackles this year but I think this can probably be put down to fatigue. I don't think the plan was ever to have him playing 60+ minutes a game but given the injury crisis we had it just fell that way and whilst he did an admirable job there was a noticeable number of arm grabbing misses that he made in the middle of the field.

Being forced into a leadership role through injury, playing huge minutes & getting a taste of rep footy at the end of this year will do wonders for his development. I think we'll see the best version of him next year which is exciting. We must lock him up!

Well he isn't going anywhere for 2017.

The Broncos can get ****ed. Capless merkins.

No salary cap and yet no Premiership in the last 10 years.

50-60min will be essential for most forwards if the interchange changes to only 6. This year it was 8, and we were down on troops, so that is why napa averaged more.

Does the 6 man interchange come in next year?

We should be targeting Paul Vaughan regardless of what happens to Napa.
