How could you NOT know losing him would be a disaster?

              He created everything.

              What a bone-headed goose.

I remember earlier this year around preseason time I was at Laparouse beach and mMloney's family was next to me ,had a chat to James and told him there was vacancy for 5/8th spot at Easts this year he laughed shook his head and blatantly said he didnt want to move on.

Currently the best 5/8th in the comp at club level. And has been over the past 4 year period as a whole.

                    And we let him go.

                    Think about that.

This decision will go down in Roosters folklore, as the single dumbest decision ever made by the club. This story will be passed on from generation to generation. The 2016 stupidity curse will ensure that the sharks win the GF and Rwb blooded Jimmy Maloney will win the Clive Churchill medal. We will all sob simultaneously.

My sister's family got to know Jimmy through their friends, and they say that he is the best down to earth bloke. Great family man.
We could have got 3-4 further good years out of Jimmy.

As soon as RTS fled, we should have locked Jimmy up on a 3-year deal. It had to be our primary objective - stability in the 6, 7 & 9 whilst a new no.1 settles in.

The fact Guerra was prioritised before RTS and Jimmy you have to ask questions as to the thinking process of the top brass.

At the end of last year, I was actually comfortable with letting Maloney go as he was in the Top 5 in the NRL for errors, penalties conceded and missed tackles.
Had Hastings developed the way that we wanted and expected, then we would not be talking about Maloney.
We gambled and we lost - simple as that!
Also, that's footy. Had Maloney suffered a long-term injury this year, then again we would not be talking about his loss.
As hard as it is, time to move on from this and just cheer on our boys in the U20s GF!

Letting go of Maloney is the single dumbest recruitment decision made by any team ever. I honestly can't think of a worse decision made by another side, and it's certainly our dumbest.

Imagine if Politis decided to give Fitler the boot at the end of 2001 in favour of playing the up and coming young finch at 5/8. That is literally the level of stupid that this was.
