I would leave Anasta as captain but move him to lock.
Bring the 3 players from NYC in to our side that has gotten the biggest wraps this year, they are Symonds, Towers and Kennedy.
Have Symonds in lock, Towers in fullback or wing and Kennedy into the starting lineup.
Bring in Williamson aswell.
We need to have players in there respective positions. Thats why we got knocked up by 40+ this week.
Once we get players into there positions, we can work on our game plans week by week. We could lose 10 games in a row, but if everyone is being left in there position everything will work out after a while. We cant keep on changing our team every single week.

I think the failure of the Roosters this year is a result of systematic failure at many levels. It's too easy to blame 1 guy for everything, but end of the day I'd say everybody associated with the Roosters is to blame. That said, we can all take the credit for sticking in there and helping out when they win the premiership in 2010!

Would be awesome seeing his face, but it will be lost in translation due to the fact that he would not have been born when the originator of the name was a star.....

Better yet, lets just blame the easiest target (the known badboy.)
Besides saying "oh he just stops when he hits people" tell me... what's he doing wrong? He's leading the metres gained stat every week... he's gaining more ground than anybody else out there! Not saying he's doing a wonderful job and nobody else is... just saying he's doing at least as well as everybody else.
Sure he's a star and getting paid a lot, but my view is we could recruit ANYBODY to replace him, and the team wouldn't magically start winning. Footy is a team sport... YOU have no idea if you don't even understand the basis of a team sport (i.e. you work as a team and can't rely on 1 big man to do all the work.)
When the team is defending properly and making holes that Mason can run into and score tries then we'll be winning games. Sure he's 115kg... but 3 blokes can take him out pretty easily! If you're relying on 1 man to just run through the whole team and being amazed when he just stops after being pushed back by 3 guys then you obviously have no idea.
Maybe that works in the junior grades (at high school we always had 1 big guy in the U15's who looked 25 and had a beard... he could run through whole teams of U15's players... but professionals... totally different story! Even the small guys can nail a big guy like Mason in a tackle whereas in U15's rugby they'd run scared...)
---
Our real problem is possession, particularly in the opposition's 1/2. Anasta and Freddie both said it; we're getting NO possession in the oppositions halves. Getting possession is a lot more complex than expecting a big man to run his guts out and smash holes through a whole team (that's an U15's amateur tactic, not a professional tactic... in professional footy they're all big men...)Last edited by sirgamble; 05-26-2009, 11:58 AM.
