  • Hasler - gone !!

Apparently an emergency board meeting is to be held on Friday to determine the immediate future of Dessie. Recent public criticisms by Terry Lamb and Steve Mortimer about him not understanding the Bulldogs culture, and ruining their DNA, seem to have painted them into a corner with any potential replacement needing to be an ex-bulldog.

Will be interesting to see what happens.... his record is excellent in terms of competing in finals & even GF's over the last few years with them.

Cleary seems to be the only credentialed, established 1st grade coach currently without a gig. If he comes with his son as a package deal anyone would be interested.

Who is his son? The problem with Hasler would be the 6 fat forwards he would want to bring.

Cleary's son not Des'. I'm pretty sure I've heard Cleary say he doesn't want to be coached by his father anyway which is fair enough.

With St George saying McGregor will definitely be there next year, and their board to stupid to go back on their word it may leave both of these two coaches in limbo.

We've got an assistant spot open too, even if it is only for a year or two.

2vee might fit into the bulldogs. des to manly. apparently this is over his 2 yr extension, there is a clause which includes that he can be sacked if the team doesnt make top 4.

Wasn't their DNA destroyed by the chlorine in that Coffs Harbour swimming pool?

Sorry when he said Cleary I was thinking he was referring to Hasler as 'Clearly' being the only credentialed first grade coach available if sacked . There is no way Robbo would want Cleary or Hasler here. Both want a first grade coaching job so he would only be leaving himself open to being usurped from within.

I thought at the time when the Dogs poached Hasler Greenturd said he wanted to have a culture like Manly's.
Now they complain he doesn't understand their culture,

The way I see this playing out
                Hasler to Manly
                Barrett to Saints
Dogs will have Pay, Cleary or Cartwtight

Anyway who cares ..........I hate the Dogs,

Very overrated coach in my opinion. The statistics don't tell the story. Heavily back ended contracts at manly allowed him a fantastic roster. Coupled with the best up and coming halves in dce and foran. A lot of the problems manly face now and the last few seasons were due to des. He's assembled a roster at the dogs that's quite different from the majority of the sides and in the nrl and It hasn't paid off. They desperately need an attacking coach and halves. Letting Ennis go for lichaa also appears a mistake as Ennis went on to have a career year and lichaa is on the outer. I rate Garvey as the backup but he won't help their creativity problems.

Dymock will get the gig if Hasler is punted.
Ex-player, knows the club, has coached thre before, he's even money to get the gig

I heard Dean Pay might be a chance.
Castle won't be too far behind Dessy.

You would have got good odds a couple of years ago if you'd backed Hasler to be sacked before his contract ended.

Seriously though, do you think he has been a failure there? he had a pedestrian backline and no noted halfback but still got them into a couple of GFs and regularly into the playoffs. Until 3 weeks before the playoffs, they were top 4, but Kasiano's suspension hurt them a bit, and starting the big oaf upon his return backfired badly against a red hot young team that ran them ragged.

Through the media I am hearing Des will go to the Dragons & if that happens I bet they will finish higher than the Dogs on the ladder next year. The 2 candidates for the job IMO will be Dymock or Pay, Dymock I dont rate but Pay could be a surprise packet.
The Dogs will regret letting him go he is one of the top coaches & you are pretty much guaranteed to be in the top 8 if he is the coach.
