  • This time of year...

What do you do at this time of year? Just over half way through the season and we're farked... nothing aside from a LOT of Todd Carnage and a LOT of back to back wins will get us over the line. It's depressing and you're looking for something to ease the pain... what do you do?

I have to admit I resort to watching rugby. I was there the other night watching the Tahs THUMP the Brumbies. Gotta admit I enjoyed watching some of the plays (and watching the team I was supporting win for once.)

It was a good atmosphere... kinda wish Cross was still with the Roosters because he had a blinder. TBH I think the NRL needs to reform and get the independent commission going FAST because poor management is really choking League right now. Watching a bit of rugby reminded me how much League has been slowed down by the refs... I get sick of hearing the whistle for minor fumbles (when the ball has bounced backwards anyway!) Difficult to explain why, but it felt like the ref was less involved and there were more try scoring opportunities because people were allowed to do more with loose ball.

Not saying Union's about to take over as my #1 sport, but around this time of the year when the Chooks are struggling it always becomes a lot more interesting.

I watch a lot of sports throughout the year, but I'll always watch league whenever it is on, but I will NEVER sit down and watch a full game of yawnion

        Ref less involved in Rugby?

        Rugby League slow?

Week after week refs slaughter matches in Rugby which are decided by penalty goals and dodgy scrum penalties.

If Rugby League was any quicker it would be touch footy.

I watch both sports but Rugby is struggling big time, the Tahs have had shocking crowds year and get booed off most weeks.

The ONLY good thing about rugby yawnion, is that it gave birth to rugby league in 1908.

And the rule book is bigger than the whole encyclopedia britannica.
And the ref's can find a penalty in the last 2 minutes to decide a game.

I'd rather a root canal at my dentist than watch Yawnion!

The last time I watched a union game, David Campese had a full head of hair, Chris Handy was fit, and Peter Fitzsimons was a player with a hot wife instead of a boring writer with a hot wife.

I find club rugby much more entertaining than Super 15.

A tired old saying from years gone by, that almost rivals Souffs being the pride of the league !

those words were penned by a famous eastern suburbs propo Stephen finane! a good man to beside in a blue! i had the absolute pleasure of packing down with him in the front row at easts and for a hooker of limited ability, he made me look very good! i remember too one time down at bronte surf club, a group of skin headed westies came looking for trouble, finnane picked up the sweeps oar and chased them off the beach, never to be seen again! He played his rugby with the saqme passion, one test match at the scg against wales,l finane teamed up with ray price, the pair of them destroying the pride of wales the famous welsh pack so rest assured the words penned by steven the game played in heaven were meant As truth and an extension of his passion for the game, they are not hollow hackneyed letters such as the pride of the league or some such nonsense!

I'm sure the Souths fan that coined the 'Pride of the League' saying was equally as passionate as Finnane, but it still doesn't stop it from being a tired old saying.

I know she's over 50 but does that mean that you'll offload your wives when they pass the half century.

Like he's said, "how did an oaf like me get a woman like that."

Perhaps he is hung like a rogue elephant or has a lot of money or perhaps they love each other.
