  • Friend to lose Captaincy??

Lets hope so.. But it's just a rumour.
    HUSH, HUSH
Which player looks set to lose his captaincy in a move that will ruffle a few feathers at the club?

I saw that myself and wondered if the choice of words "ruffle a few feathers" was more than just a coincidence.

Personally I'd make Cordner captain with JWH vice-captain.

Friend didn't respond well to the captaincy. He seemed to lose his composure way too much.

Some players just aren't captaincy material.
It'd be a worry if the "story" below the one in question related to us.
Does Friend consider Carter unworthy of receiving the ball??

Which captain is furious with one of his club’s recent signings?
This player does not like their new recruit on a personal or professional level and is upset he wasn’t consulted about the signing.

From the same article, personally I instantly thought of the Hastings/Widdop drama, could it be Horrie Jnr is off to the merge & Widdop isn't happy?

That could be one of multiple stories at one of 16 clubs. Or it could be nothing. Not worth speculating over.

I only give the Friend rumour credence by I suspect that Robbo will want to relieve him of the captaincy and replace him with Cordner.

If he doesn't give it up freely it will become the poisoned chalice.

            Chook.

Was only thinking about how to position this with Friend. Potentially could derail 2017 campaign if not managed properly. Will require all of Trent's man management skills to execute

With talk that cordner is a top 3 contender for nsw captain, how many nsw captain's have there been that were not club captain? I can't think of many off the top of my head.

Fair point. But, for Trivial Pursuit, Adrian Lam captained Qld while Freddy was roosters captain.

Friend will remain in the leadership group.... Captain will be Cordner.

                      Damn straight.
If Jake cares about the team, and TR s future reputation , now would be the perfect time to make his last act as captain to be to fall on his sword.

I don't see how Cordner could potentially be NSW captain without being roosters captain, so I think that's a given, whether vice, co or sole captain.

The solution seems obvious to me: just make Boyd & Jake co-captains, everyones happy. They did it last year with Pearce & it worked fine. & this way all this 'pressure' comes off friend without any drama & we get the leader we've all been calling for.

Queenslander Politis is known for his loyalty and in particular to Queensland players so Queenslander Jake I seriously doubt will be stripped of captaincy or co captaincy. It's not in the romantic redemption script. I hope Jake has a excellent 2017 season.

I don't think it's necessary at all to have to be a club captain to captain an origin side. Of course having the club captaincy is good for experience, but not necessary.
I think blokes like Cronk, Wade Graham, Luke Lewis, Maloney and even Mitchell Pearce would make very good origin captains.

It's gotta be co-Captains with Jake and Boyd. This allows Jake to save face as he's effectively demoted to VC, while during Rep rounds and the inevitable injury periods with Cordner being out, he can step up and wear the armband again.

Easy, and as they say, peasy.
