He was thrown into the wolves in a team that was a shambles.

I reckon he has a future in the tricolours.

Moca Van Hekeran was the papuan coach at the time and there were a few ex easts players in the territory at the time which is why the team probably went there for the end of season trip.Paid off didnt it if i remember correctly he played for australia in his first season in Sydney.Could be wrong though so long ago.

Good point Stevo. Hold judgement until he is playing in a successful roosters team with good go forward.

And I'm not sure I would be calling him 'soft'. It's the biggest insult you can give to a player.

I thought the leadership & temperament he showed on ANZAC day to get us back in that game as a rookie said far more about him than the City/Country game where he had some nice moments.

If you didn't take notice of that performance you're a hard man to impress.

He showed glimpses of his ability , and deserves top marks if you take the "thrown to the wolves " category into it .
Way too early to write him off I reckon.
R6 is more patient than some, and perhaps doesn't buy into the too big for the halves argument. ??? . . Fittler would've be condemned to the forwards under that rule.

Most of our rookies are being pushed too quick.
              Sign of the times?
              Salary cap?
              No proper reserve grade?

A lot of real good players in years past were in their mid-twenties before they could be consistent in the top grade.

He better move along quick as O'Sullivan's megastar son is on the way now.

Was a big fella before he came here. I think he will definitely make it in the back row if given a decent crack at it

Posters calling players soft have never taken a hit in their lives, but if that's what makes them feel like a real man, then good luck to them.

I don't think that's a valid argument. Toughness doesn't count for shit in my day job. Am I also not allowed to call a player slow?

From what I've heard he is one of the best trainers at the club.

My favourite moment of Matto's season was running over the top of Dugan like he was his bitch in the round 2 game. I think this guy has some talent and with the right attitude (see Vasco's post above) and a bit of luck, he might have a solid career.
