Perhaps that is why we are shopping Copely around?

But I don't believe our squad would be 400K over the cap, we finished second last this year ffs and we haven't really signed any big guns in the off season. Keary would have cost a bit but as TS has said we have let a lot go in the past 2 years or so including SBW, RTS, Jimmy, etc.

Looks like Waylander could be on the money. But I got the player right lol

I got this from Zero Tackle
The Gold Coast has emerged as a potential home for Dale Copley should he be forced out of the Sydney Roosters.

It is understood the tricolours are trying to ease salary cap pressures now that out-of-favour half Jackson Hastings appears likely to see out the last year of his contract.

Not being able to offload Hastings has left us with 26 instead of 25 in our top tier at the moment, so someone has to go,which looks like Copley. If that happens we will be back under the cap.

          Copley is surplus to requirements.

Even without him we'll have Mitchell Gordon SKD Toops Fergo and Manu. That's already 6 into 5 which, given injuries, is what you want.

Our approach over recent years has been to buy more players than required; let them prove hunger and desire in preseason and release/transfer surplus

Also, FWIW Watson, Latrell and MAnu have x-factor. Something we need after watching season 2016. SKD, Fergo, Toupo have it in less consistent doses.

Cords, SST and JWH have "forward equivalent X factor" in their own ways.
