The Sydney Roosters are set to move Blake Ferguson into the centres in 2017 following his eye-catching performances for Australia on the recent Four Nations tour.
Ferguson has been mainly used as a winger and fullback by the tricolours in recent times, with coach Trent Robinson unsure if he had the finesse to play in the centres.
But the tall utility back was named man of the match playing in the centres against the Kiwis in the Four Nations and also won the Harry Sunderland Medal as Australia’s player of the series.
It’s why the Roosters are shopping Dale Copley around for next season - despite the fact he is still under contract.
In a new-look backline, former Shark and Eel Michael Gordon will play at fullback and promising youngster Latrell Mitchell will take Ferguson’s wing spot.

Let's hope he doesn't defend in the Centres.

Who will play left centre for us?

I would rather Lattrell at left centre with SKD on the wing.

I want Manu in the side badly

For me it comes down to what edge each belongs on... Fergo, SKD, Manu are traditionally right. 3 in to 2 doesn't go... I think our best backline is
          1. Mitchell
          2. SKD
          3. Fergo
          4. Manu
          5. Gordon
          6. Kearey (left def) with Cordner
          7. Pearce (right def) with Guerra/Maubs/Matto

SKD simply can't play centre I know that much. He must be on the wing. So I'd either like to see Mitchell or Manu partner Fergo in the centres.

              I reckon SKD is an awesome centre. I want to see something like this;

              1. Gordon
              2. Toups
              3. Fergo
              4. SKD
              5. Mitchell

Fergo and Manu are both right centres.

I believe it's a mistake getting rid of Copley.

Might be wrong but I'm pretty sure Fergo played on the wing the whole 4 nations and had a great tournament. I was watching him thinking wing is def he's position and Robbo will have to use him there this year. Then I read this article thinking wtf ..

I think Manu need to be in the centres. This would be my backline, with Latrell and Gordon to swap throughout game.

                      1. Gordon
                      2. SKD/Topou - not a big fan of either
                      3. Mitchell
                      4. Manu
                      5. Fergo
                      6. Keary
                      7. Pearce

No matter how you slice and dice our backline, it will leak points like a sieve.

I thought that too, dugan and inglis were who i think were the centers. And it's not like robbo hasn't used him as a center before, not really a groundbreaking story.

neither Latrell or Joey Manu are first grade centres. The may end up being , esp Manu but they are not now

Finally some common sense. Manu has played three first grade games all on the wing and somehow people are saying he's got to be one of our centres. Defending in the centres is the toughest job in the NRL, miss a tackle and its generally a line break and in a lot of cases a try scoring opportunity. I would like to see him play a bit of NSW Cup in the centres against grown men rather then a few games against 18 and 19yo kids from the 20's
