  • Late to the party..but these are my thoughts

Only just finished watching the game that I recorded so 5 hours behind in the grieving process that follows another Roosters loss. These are my thoughts..

    1. Our kicking game is shit. We never get repeats and our bombs are never contested. Twice in the game the Knights were under the pump and we kick over the sideline and the Knights took an eternity to catch their breath and set their scrum (annoyingly it looked like the Roosters were happy about this).
    2. This is the 3rd reserve grade team that has beaten us this year (along with Manly and Storm). The Knights just out-enthused us by running on hard in attack and speed of the line in defence. Not once this year have the Roosters shown the type of commitment that the Knights/Storm/Manly have shown against us.
    3. I thought we had the favour of the ref's decisions today and it did not make a difference.
    4. FPN rarely gets criticised on the Chookpen but is my least favourite Rooster. He is terrible and has been terrible all year. His hit ups today were are weak as water. Should not be in first grade. Would like to see him moved on.
    5. BJ is not a winger and J Carney is not a centre. The Knights pair of Lulia and Matauatai completely out-played them in both rounds. I would swap them in a heart-beat. We need specialist wingers and Peter Matauatai has been out-standing in attack and very safe and reliable in defence. We should make a play for him. I have lost my faith in BJ...thought he was going to be the next Israel Folau...have decided that he is crap instead.
    6. The Roosters forwards have no heart for the battle. The Knights were running and hitting hard and the Roosters didn't want to know about a hand-to-hand fight in the trenches. I enjoy seeing them get deservedly smashed when they try to go sideways. Jake Friend was making more metres on his hit-ups than Myles/FPN/Ryles etc who are twice his size.

In conclusion, time to go FPN, Myles, Braith, BJ, J Carney and Ryles...don't let the door hit your arse on the way out.

FPN is ****ed, and is just reflective of what our team is about. We got away with it, but did anyone see that strip he tried to put on Roberts right in front of our posts, about 10 out? Dumbest play I have ever seen. Lucky the refs didn't see it.

Missed that one...but still don't know why Peter Matautai got called back when he made a long break. Also Anthony Mitchell got away with a metre forward pass which regrettably didn't get penalised because then Uate scored shortly after.

your spot on about number 1 !!! the instructions on how to perform a grubber kick must have been ripped out of the manual and destroyed....it is a non existant component of the roosters kicking game, there have been a large majority of games where we have not gained a repeat set from a drop out, they rush, lose their bundle, and want to score off each tackle.....NO PATIENCE !

          2) again, goes back to them losing their bundle, losing focus and not showing patience.

          3) Your right with the refs, i think with this game, regardless of the penalty count, we cannot say we were hard done by.

          4) Frank is starting to run out of chances, he has played nearly 3 full years in firstgrade, he has shown us what he can do, he needs to show consistancy.

          5) We are going to be stuck with BJ at wing, he has always been a 2nd rower to me.

          6) The knights forwards really wanted the upper hand today and they got it. Though in saying that, more often than not, we got into the knights half on our sets......again losing the bundle when getting close.

Can i add 2 more things

          7) Lazyness ! it is starting to filter through other aspects of the game. it may be small, but taking subs when a player goes off on the far side of the field and has to then walk right around the field to get back to the bench....THAT SHITS ME !!!! if you are subbed off, you work your arse off with another run and then get yourself to the bench side of the field and make a correct substitution !!!!! Some may see this as non important, but it is things like this, the small one %ers that on their own, don't mean much, but all together cause problems !

          8) Running straight ! dead set, i think this section was ripped out of the Roosters rugby league manual along with "how to kick a grubber" !!!!!!

it turned out to be a very smart play. At 12-4 and on tackle 1 it wouldn't have made a difference if they had another set of 6.. or went for a penalty goal

although, i do agree FPN is very f**ed and has to leave

Smart? Do we want to win or do we want to lose? You can't give teams more opportunities to score.

lol you thought BJ was going to be the next Folau so we should cut him because he's dissapointed you?

So much wrong with that I don't know where to start.

i already explained the pros and cons of the strip. If it was a penalty it wouldn't have made a difference

Why is there no criticism of the other Carney? He was terrible again yesterday and I think he should spend more time in a Newtown jumper. At least Pearce was trying to get us going, at least Pearce's kicks seemed to find the ground and have some purpose to them. I can think of at least two bombs that Carney put up that went straight to the Newcastle player without us having any chance of putting pressure on the catcher. He is so far off the pace at the moment, he may as well have been playing at Bluetongue whilst we were at Ausgrid

BJ needs to be shifted to the centres ASAP.

Give him the rest of the year to figure that out.

If he can't make a go of it as a 3 or 4 then there's problems.

                        He's not a finisher, not a winger.

BJ should be on the bench as an impact runner on the fringes as the opposition tires, it's so obvious but even a coach of 20+ years experience can't get it right *sigh*

I bet Martin Bella would be quicker than BJ over 30m. If BJ cannot make the team as a 2nd rower then the only place he should be shifted to is Newtown.

I did not get to see the game yesterday. I notice not one of our forwards made 100 metres and we missed 50 tackles..WTF..??
