  • Time for Smith to go....

Yes he did well last year but his history has shown that once his teams then slide down again then that's it for him. Don't think we will ever win a comp with him in charge. His selections (BJ on the wing) and his tactics are bemusing at best (two dummy halfs on the field ffs!

Time to look for a new coach who can improve our culture and take this club forward. Shame we missed out on Maguire he would have been perfect.

Someone needs to come in and install some confidence back in the team. Their body language throughout the game was terrible. Heads down, hands on hips. The forwards don't hit the line hard. The only team to play 2 hookers on the field at once. If, Friend can play 80 why don't they spend some money on a good utility. The coach and recruitment manager must make these choices, right? Get rid of both of them. 3 buys this year that have me stumped. 3 hookers. Watts, Riddell, and now Mitchel! Shows upper management has a lot of faith in their current number 9. The only player that tries every week.
WE need a coach with passion and in interviews say that his team played like crap! When you here his interviews, if didn't watch the game would you probably think that it was either a close game or that they were unlucky to lose. Not they played like a bunch of girls.
Passion and some agro would work wonder for this team. Also drop some of the non performers.....
What experience does his son have as an assistant coach? Some of the of other team's assistant coaches would do a better job than our current coach.

How many times can we sack the coach in 10 years before finally holding the players accountable?

In the last 10 years we've sacked Graham Murray, Ricky Stuart, Chris Anderson and Brad Fittler. This leads me to believe that the problems at Easts are much bigger than the coach.

The players have to be accountable, things like not playing the ball right (eg Ryles) , arguing with ref , constantly dropping the ball, show lack of concentration , discipline and no commitment . They get paid too much for not getting the basics right . If Smith can't show each one of them their deficiencies and errors in defence and attack by video replays , then he should go .

Sacking the coach is classic Easts. It's up there with buying another team's halfback and having twenty second rowers. It's not the answer.

Smith should be given another couple of seasons with a squad of his making.

              It's still not his team.

              I'm for keeping him on.

How many of these threads do we have to see calling for Smith's head? Can't we honour a deal at Easts anymore? It seems that these days we seem to piss people of when they don't get us in the Grand Final every year.

if we dump smith as coach, maby we can hark back to the old days of rugby league and have Anasta as captain coach !!!

We're through the looking glass people, it's the way of the future !!!!!

I'm with you Bansai. You can't keep sacking coaches for not being able to win with someone elses team. I would let him coach out his contract with full control over recruitment and the running of the team.

It would also send a message to the players that if you don't perform - YOU go, NOT the coach.....

We won't be winning a premiership under Smith no matter what he does so I don't see the point in him staying anymore tbh.

Look who we have on the coaching staff.

Brandon Costin, Jason Taylor and Rohan Smith.

No wonder the players aren't performing.
