  • Mitch Aubusson re-signs...

    Till the end of 2011.

    Good news. We now have:

    FP Nuuausala (apparently)
    Mitchell Pearce (2013)
    Setaimata Sa (2012)
    Shaun Kenny-Dowall (2011)
    Sammy Perrett (2012)
    Ryan Williamson (2011)
    Braith Anasta (2011)
    Ben Jones (2011)
    Boyd Cordner (2012)

...all on contracts stretching from 2011 onwards. I believe Sisa Waqa, Nick Kouparitsas, Lopini Paea and James Aubusson are all here till 2010, but I am not 100% sure on the contract lengths of Rohan Ahern, Martin Kennedy, Stanley Waqa, Luke Towers, Tom Symonds or Boyd Cordner.

Next on our current 'must re-sign' list - Nate Myles. Whatever happened to us almost coming to terms with him before his drinking issue? After him, the only other notables I believe are Shane Shackleton and Anthony Cherrington.

EDIT: after a bit of research, I found out the following -

    - Matthew Hall, Rohan Ahern, Javarn White, Luke Towers, Mark Talanoa are, along with Riley Brown, Anthony Minichiello, Nate Myles, Shane Shackleton and Anthony Cherrington, off contract at the end of this current season, 2009.

    - Martin Kennedy, Stanley Waqa, Mose Masoe, Jake Friend are, along with Jordan Tansey, Sisa Waqa, Nick Kouparitsas, Lopini Paea, James Aubusson and Willie Mason, off contract at the end of 2010.

    - Ben Jones is contracted until 2011 as a long term prospect, and Boyd Cordner is contracted until 2012, however I have no information on the contract situations of Sonny Tuigamala, Tom Symonds or Sandor Earl.

Bit of a summary for our contract situation based on a few contacts and searching:

        2009

        Anthony Minichiello (fullback)
        Riley Brown (hooker)
        Nate Myles (prop/backrow)
        Shane Shackleton (prop/backrow)
        Anthony Cherrington (backrow)
        Rohan Ahern (backrow)
        Matthew Hall (backrow)
        Javarn White (fullback)

        2010

        Jordan Tansey (utility)
        Sisa Waqa (wing)
        James Aubusson (hooker)
        Willie Mason (backrow)
        Nick Kouparitsas (backrow)
        Lopini Paea (prop)
        Mose Masoe (backrow)
        Stanley Waqa (prop)
        Martin Kennedy (prop)
        Jake Friend (hooker)

        2011

        Ben Jones (utility)
        Mitchell Aubusson (centre/backrow)
        Braith Anasta (five-eighth)
        Shaun Kenny-Dowall (wing)
        Ryan Williamson (centre)

        2012

        Sam Perrett (fullback/wing)
        Boyd Cordner (backrow)
        Setaimata Sa (backrow/centre)

        2013

        Mitchell Pearce (halfback)

That is all the players in our FG squad except Sonny Tuigamala, whom I have no idea about...

Luke Towers (fullback/wing) and Mark Talanoa (centre) are both contracted till the end of the current season, and Tom Symonds as well as a few of the other NYC blokes, I have no idea about their contract situation.

I know a lot of people are going to "contradict" me and not agree with me but I don't see Maubs as such a priority. He is a good player but doesn't add a lot in attack.I will say He is a very good finisher while in the centers but cannot see him busting many tackles in the middle, and the way we are playing now, the ball wont even reach him if he is running out on the fringes.

My opinion he shouldn't be in our starting squad as or forward, and should only be used as a back up centre if he doesn't grow a little bit and put a bit of weight on.

Your opinions your opinion mate, generally posters here wont rubbish your opinion when you dont put others down and rubbish their opinion, you just state yours supported by logic.

Which youve done very well IMO.

Unlike another poster we all know by now.

That is quite a show of faith by MAubs given how the Roosters are currently under-performing.
Perhaps he knows something we don't?

First time I saw Maubs was the 2006 GF. His defence was a standout, 1 on 1 he never looked like being beaten.
Good step, but a bit slow for a centre.
He's developed into a quality first grader.
Any team needs players like him, and I do think he will develop into a quality backrower.

You mean its only a matter of time before he stifles our attack by getting in the way in the backline....oh hangon...

I agree with this. He is a utility/bench player at best. Solid player but that's it.

What's the latest with Cherrington? Is he back playing reserves?

                          Surely we will re-sign him.

I thought we had him for another year or two already.....I could have sworn that before he went to town on his girlfriend we extended his contract ???

As for Maubs I think he will get better as he gets older - good signing

He played last week, it was his first game back. As far as I know, he is still unsigned for next season
