    SYDNEY ROOSTERS!

With that name we can gather fans from all over the biggest city, not just from the Eastern Suburbs.

The old Rooster emblems of the past...the Sydney City one was way too complicated/fussy...are good for retro...but we should be sticking with the current Sydney Roosters emblem.

'Sydney City'...what, the district from Central station to Circular Quay, and Darling Harbour to Hyde Park?
Way too small an area to identify ourselves with.

The current emblem, with the Opera House sails as the Rooster's comb, is pure magic.
    It must remain.

I think this is the best emblem

I think they should be known as the Sydney Roosters but because of the heritage of the club a Rooster standing on the footy with Easts to win is appropriate.

          I agree.

I never call my team the Sydney Roosters. I have been forced to call them just the Roosters. The club and I hold Politis responsible for making such poor decisions on the renaming of the team and change of emblem No foresight whatsoever as they messed with tradition. Just all kinds of wrong. The team has the best colours of any team then to go change emblems and the teams name just diabolical. As a club we pride ourselves on our heritage and within this is tradition and it's why the emblem of the proud rooster atop of a football should never been changed or lost. Look at the brand Fred Perry which has the Wimbledon wreath as its logo - it has heritage and tradition and has never changed nor has the heritage brand with the 3 stripes and Aussie icon Speedo born in Bondi.

Loads of foresight by Mr P...the Sydney Roosters emblem is the best in the NRL.

                https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney_Roosters

The club was founded in 1908 in Paddington, Sydney, as Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club; in 1995 the club's marketing brand name was changed to the Sydney City Roosters and, in 2000, to simply the Sydney Roosters. The Bondi Junction and Moore Park-based Roosters have a long-standing and fierce rivalry with other Sydney-based clubs, especially the South Sydney Rabbitohs, a fellow foundation club based in neighbouring Redfern.[3] Notwithstanding its branding as the Sydney Roosters, the official name of the club, holder of the NRL licence, remains the Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club, the same name it has had since 1908.

As such, much of the club's merchandise and paraphernalia, especially those marketed directly to long-serving and dedicated members, includes the insignia
                ESDRLFC.

                Everyone's a winner!
                Leave things as they are.

                  1990s...Super League war.
1995 we changed marketing name to Sydney City Roosters...in troubled times, with no team safe from expulsion.
When things looked grim...Souths were booted out of the comp...a merger with the Dragons was mooted. Failed.
Survival was the name of the game.

Then in 2000 a new beginning...Sydney Roosters in the NRL.
                  2002 Premiers.
                  2013 Premiers.

                  Leave things as they are.

I think Sydney is the most inclusive name and gives fans a chance to call it whatever they like.

                      Reasons...
                      1. I grew up in Paddington and Surry Hills. I never really hung out in the eastern suburbs and my family was never rich enough. Like seriously... a 3br house in even the cheaper 'eastern suburbs' is gonna be starting at ~$2m. Easts alone is isolating to me as a city boy, BUT... I like it because it has history about it. But like seriously, maybe everybody on here but me lives there... who can afford to live in Bellevue Hill, Point Piper, Double Bay, Vaucluse...etc besides those who are extremely well off?
                      2. Sydney City (while it's my heartland) has little history about it, and reminds me too much of the daggy logo/Rooster Man song.
                      3. So that leaves Sydney! Yes people call us the Roosters, but that's our name!!! To me it demonstrates unity between city dwellers like me (when I'm not in Canberra), all you lucky affluent folk and those who are from Roosters territory that Souffs seem to have gobbled up.

Frankly, which teams are referred to by their region? I would suggest mostly single-city/town teams. I can never connect with the AFL because I don't know Melbourne!!! Gimme a map, I dunno where Collingwood, Hawthorn, St Kilda...etc are on it and don't really care. I can connect with NRL teams better because I know their names/culture rather than which part of Melbourne they are in.

It's always Easts for me and always will be.

Reminds me also of Graham Appo. Remember that semi verses Dragons in 1999 and Gould has a master stroke brain snap and names Appo to start as half instead of Lam.

I think Souths, manlyand parra are more commonly called by their region than their emblem, also Newcastle,Gold Coast, and Melbourne roll of the tongue to me easier than Titans,Knights and storm.
