The Roosters were Sydney City for five years. Since 2000, they've been Sydney Roosters. It's probably too well-established now, but I've never liked it. Here's why:
a) No-one ever calls us Sydney - not even we do! It's just 'The Roosters'. Everyone else gets referred to as their area in tables and results.
b) It would give a more definitive identity. It was probably done to widen the appeal of the brand, but both the Tigers and Bulldogs tried it and their local and non-local fans didn't like it. People actually like to identify with an area even if they don't live there. (How many Manchester United/Manchester City, Chelsea, etc fans out there).
c) It was a cool logo.
d) We can't go back to Easts. It's all very well to call it out at games, but it's a national comp.
What do you think?
