  • Others clubs after Evans

The Wests Tigers are ready to launch a bid for Evans and entice the 25-year-old to leave his digs in Bondi and return to his junior club.

They’ve got their four biggest names off contract but that hasn’t deterred the Tigers from hitting the open market.

With Michael Chee-Kam, Joel Edwards, Tim Grant, Kyle Lovett, Ava Seumanufagai and Aaron Woods off-contract, the Tigers are in the mix for another forward.

Aside from being a Leichhardt junior, Evans also has a link to the Tigers through their coach Jason Taylor.

Taylor coached Evans in 2011 and 2012 as part of the Roosters’ NYC side and later worked with him when promoted to the role of assistant in 2013.

But the Eels are in the market for a player of Evans’ age and size.

The Eels identified Evans as a player of interest in 2016 and had hopes of being able to lure him across to the blue and golds for this season, although that is no longer the case.

Still, Evans is a player of interest for 2018 as he’s a rangy forward who can also play backrow.

And the club has several front and backrow players off-contract this year including; David Gower, James Hasson, Rory O’Brien, Frank Pritchard, Kelepi Tanginoa and Peni Terepo.

Having progressed through the Roosters’ NYC system to making his NRL debut in 2004, Evans has played more than 50 first grade games.

It should come as no surprise the Roosters want to keep him.

But Evans isn’t in a rush to make a call on his future, with his management waiting for a decision on how much the salary cap will increase by in 2018.

A Fijian international, Evans is pushing for rep honours as he builds on his 2015 City Origin jumper and 2016 appearance for the World All Stars.

He has eight rounds to prove himself. If he can't step up in those rounds he has to hit the road.

I completely agree, but of all the players in our team he is the one I would like to see hit his straps this year. He has all the size and ability and should be playing wider like many have said on here before - with lateral defence and agression the obvious issues.

I would like to see him kick on as well but he has to do it quick.

I dont dislike Evans but I wouldnt mind if he did go to the Tigers. I prefer players to play for the club that they played all their junior footy at.

He's had enough time to take the next step, Napa is being groomed for Origin and Evans is a bench warmer at best (based on past efforts), it's now make or break for Jane this season.

IMO he isn't being use right by us and has quite a few errors in him. If players like Knight and Collins go as good as reported, he might be on his way to another club

Cant the Tigers just take Guearra? maybe a package deal Evans and Guerra for Tedesco fair swap

Maybe not but you have to take advantage of the chances you get. I know that you mean he should be used more on the edges but sometimes you have to do the tough stuff and take it right up the middle, have a look at Klemmer for the dogs both have very similar body shapes and he's not afraid to make the hard yards right up the middle. Kane in comparison comes across as being a bit soft, he needs to take that next step.

Klemmer came back to earth in that Third Origin in Melbourne a couple of years ago. He hasn't been the same since.

Like Tony Priddle after Bruce Sinclair decked him.

Give Knight a run. Can't go any worse that Jane Evans.
