Sounds a good system to me.
Don't know why it has taken so long for this to be implemented honestly. All this crap in past years of injured players making surprise comebacks on game day or youngsters making "shock" debuts were for the birds. and that doesn't even take into account the shady insider knowledge betting shit that has gone on in years gone by (how many cooked markets got suspended whoever Andrew Johns made surprise comebacks or pulled up lame a day before a game?)

Clubs or club doctors will apply to the NRL on the morning of the game saying that player x who was not named in the 21 injury improved over night & because the NRL are not medical experts they will have to agree with the doctor & player x will play.
The only reason they'll allow for someone outside the 21 to play is if a team can prove that they cannot field a team based on the 21 players named earlier in the week.
A freak run of injuries or illnesses will be the only way they'll allow a late change. A player not named suddenly being ok to play again will mean mothing

Clubs will easily get around this silly new rule.

Again, they don't have to listen to the club doc if they don't want. Especially if this doctor keeps diagnosing mystery illnesses every week. If need be I'd imagine the NRL can always call in their own doc to assess a player's supposed injury or illness.
Club docs will have their decision making taken away soon enough anyway once the details of the McManus case comes out. Their opinions on player welfare are pretty malleable providing the cheques are clearing

If a club says that player y has a migraine headache there is no way the NRL or NRL doctor can test for that so they then will be able to draft in player x.
All clubs continually bend or break the rules IMO.

Not really. Players named as "Reserves" on Tuesday will still be able to be named in the starting sides of NYC and NSW Cup. But players included in the 19-man squad named 24 hrs before kick-off will be ineligible for the final 17-man squad if they play in a NSW Cup match prior to the NRL match.

I also think that a player pulling out with a bloody migraine would cop such a pasting from the media, fans, and especially opposition players the next time the little princess takes the field that they'd soon stop agreeing to such tactics.
This whole thing is about protecting the integrity of the league in the face of gambling links so I don't see the NRL taking its enforcement lightly

Rubbish! Players can play 90 mins of footy. If needed they can back up..
Here's a little quote you might like to take heed of .... "Better to be silent and considered a fool than to speak and remove all doubt". You really are an A grade tosser.Last edited by Waylander; 03-01-2017, 06:36 PM.
