Isn't this thread about players who made their debut as chooks?

          Good thread.
But I can't think of any that haven't already been mentioned.

I might be mistaken about a few of these and if so, I apologise in advance! Colin Ward, Jim Smith, Mark Riddell.

I know this player didn't start with us...in fact he played in more clubs than the Delltones but...

Always one of my faves who never gets a mention in these type of threads.

Late 80s....ex rugby....silky skills and didn't shirk it.

Since the thread is getting more general how about the wing combination of John Ferguson and Terry Faye (sp?). Ferguson played at Newtown and later Canberra. Faye was from Souths maybe. Man they were a pair of good wingers.

PAUL McCABE, MARTY GURR, JIM HARVEY, KERRY BOUSTEAD & IAN BARCLAY (all IMO played their best footy with us not them prix over the harbour)
KEN WRIGHT, SHANE RIGON, FLETCH, THE YAK , HEGARTY (mercy signings who only played with the vermin to beef-up their superannuation before retiring)

Wow....the mention of a couple of players names reminded me of the days I used to get really got excited about football.

John Ferguson...the best winger I have ever seen.

John (not Jim, Gman) Harvey. Was so excited when we signed him from Manly...he had a tough enforcer reputation playing with the likes of Terry Randall(prob the toughest of all) and Ian Martin etc. But it didn't quite live up to the hype at Easts.. .in fact Royce Ayliffe his partner in crime was more formidable...and filthy...so ironic and amusing he ended up on the judiciary.

Ken Wright...what a tragedy he had such an injury wrecked career. Could have transformed the game...a wicked sidestep.

Only Adrian Morley has sent the pulse racing since...and only Lattrell comes close now.

                        For me....memories.

Mostly delivered and spoken about through Rugby League Week...the bible....died suddenly this week I think.

Yes, my footy passion/knowledge is stuck in the past along with my musical passion/knowledge..makes me good at trivia but difficult to hold a conversation about who plays for whom these days as I only watch our games. I agree with a post Johnny made a few weeks back that if it weren't for Easts, he would not have any interest in NRL.

Even though I stopped buying RLW many years ago when it turned tabloid like, it's still sad to see it fold. I had 2 letters published in it. One when I was around 10 years old regarding Greg Hartley's obsession with Manly (Dad was so proud he took a copy to the pub) and then again in 2008. I was on some Easts related rant but for some reason cannot remember what...how unusual!
We certainly have had some interesting characters play for us over the years and they have all have a spot in Roosters history now.

I used to buy big league and RLW weekly, as a kid always wanted the poster in the middle and team lists at the back, the internet has killed all those tabloids as any information you want is now at your finger tips, but I'll never forget getting my pocket money and waiting for the Wednesday edition.

SBW was the last rooster to bring me the feel of real excitement in a game.
