  • Latrell Mitchell

I can't believe how bad this kid has been for the last 2 weeks. Hopelessly outplayed against Manly, and dead set horrible against the Broncos. He just looks lazy, uncommitted, like a deer in the headlights when play comes towards him. Flapping his arms around knocking balls down with no chance of catching them and giving away extra sets. Even in attack he is out of position, over running plays, slow to get back onside, walking around. I know he was

Did he even call for the ball when Flash made that big break and he was wide open on the left? And then the dumb things like going in hard on Hunt AFTER he scored. So many things worry me about this kid.

And having the coach hook him from the game and say later "I thought he needed a rest" is a huge slap in the face that he should be ashamed of. I hope he gets the message but wouldn't mind seeing him dropped if he doesn't lift his game next week. Manu, Aubs, Matterson or Watson could all take his place in the centres.

I had a thought that he might be having a dummy spit because we are chasing Tedesco which means the club doesn't see Mitchell as an option at fullback any time soon, I know it doesn't take much to put young blokes these days off their game and that most of them don't handle pressure well, but if you are going to play first grade you better learn to handle pressure pretty quickly.

I am sure every opposition coach now sees him as a target, so the pressure on him is only going to get more intense from here on.

Lattrell is either carrying an injury or if he's not, needs a good strong mentor to get his head right.

He is a prodigious talent and we need to get him on the right path.

We heard how effective Robbo was with the people management side of things when in an assistant role, he now needs to show this when the pressure is on him as head coach.

So the young guy has one bad game?
I think people are over analysing his situation.
He will probably score 3 tries next week against the Knights.

Two dud games in a row now Mickie. I was convinced he was carrying an injury in the Manly game.

It's only because I think the guy is a star that it worries me.

And I hope you are right...we need him.

He will come good, remember he is still only 19. As Mickie has said he will probably score 3 next week and be the toast of the NRL and the Chookpen again.

As the first poster said 'kid'. He is still a kid, a big kid, and though he has talent, one thing a kid lacks is the ability to cope like adults. He has a big future if he doesn't burn out before he gets there.

As you said........He is a kid. He will have ups and downs. No point crucifying him.

Bennett is no mug. He knew (as did all the world) that our game plan in '15 was to 'give the ball to RTS'. That's why Darius had such a big grin when he intercepted that pass. He couldn't believe SKD & Robinson were so naive to not see that everyone else knew our very basic game plan. Bennett can read Robinson like a Sunday comic. Sadly Trent has no inkling that, that is the case.

Amazing that Bennett can read Robinson yet Robinson still has more wins over him.

Must be more of those mind games Bennett is playing... letting Robinson think he has the upper hand?

Back to the thread topic, Mitchell needs to get a little fitter. Still has baby fat. Whether he is carrying an injury not too sure, but looks disinterested at times and doesn't go looking for the ball. Maybe the GI comparisons are going to his head. Yes he has a bright future ahead, but it's all about attitude and desire. The talent is already there. For our clubs sake, hopefully the GI route instead of the Owen Craige one. And hopefully getting pulled off in the game without being injured is the kick in the butt he needed. He didn't look happy being replaced, which is a good thing. As I said, it's all about attitude. The nrl has plenty of players with less natural talent, but with better attitude and desire to win. Hope he has a blinder against the nights.

Someone needs to make some decisions.

                        1. Is Latrell going to be our fullback?
                        2. Is Latrell going to be a winger? good position for him, IMO.
                        3. Is SKD going to be moved on? In the Sunday paper.
                        4. Is Fergo going to be moved on? In the Sunday paper.
                        5. Is Tedesco coming? or not.
                        6. Why are we buying Tedesco when he can't tackle any better than the players we have now? He also makes stuff ups when in control of the ball...he did it last week. He's not perfect by any means.
                        7. Is Gordon staying or going?
                        8. When is SKD going back to no4?

Because at the moment the players' minds seem to be in disarray.
If all this tripe continues we'll be lucky to win another game this year.

Freddy said on Sunday that those are lazy plays in defence. Hanging back. Slapping the ball down. He's lazy.

The concern has always been whether he has the mental side right. That seems to be the case still.

Let's hope he goes back to how he played in the first four rounds asap.

It's a complete attitude thing. If he gets it right he'll be fine.

The big problem to me is that a player with poor attitude suddenly having all the media and press calling him out on it can either use it as ammo to do better... or they can completely collapse in on themselves.

It's up to Robbo to ensure it is the latter

We used to do alright against Brissy ...last couple of years they have had our measure.
There was just so many things wrong with this last game ..it was a zillion things.
This wouldve been the whole team for above .
