The Referee is the sole judge of what constitutes an advantage be it tactical or territorial. An infringement is not ‘negated’ simply because the ball touches or is touched by an opponent. The opponent must have adequate opportunity to take advantage and endeavour to do so before play is allowed to proceed.

Application of the advantage laws does not deprive the Referee of subsequently dealing with an offending player.

From the laws of the game. Pearce would've known this as a first grade halfback, hence my point it's lazy. Just needed to get himself onside quickly and he becomes part of the 13 again. He didn't and the ref (rightfully) blew a penalty. If the roles were reversed, I'd want the same for our team.
    We are copping the penalty.

We aren't copping the sin bin or the multitude of penalties we should have been given.

By the letter of the law the penalty at the end was right. But the letter of the law is very often not applied in the game particularly not on close finishes. Doesn't make it right but that is how they "manage" games these days. So massive call to pull out a penalty like that in the circumstances

Can anyone explain why it was a scrum instead of a penalty when the warriors passed after the arm hit the ground and was classified as tackled ?

If the roles were reversed would Klein award penalty to us?
          No
Not if cordener taken high with no penalty
Not if we play near perfect teams each week

LOL That decision was my personal favourite for the game.

The problem with all these arguments against why Pearce shouldn't have been penalised is that few, if any, are arguing he was actually onside. I'd find it a lot easier to pan the ref if that were the case, and I think Pearce's (non) effort is just another example of the dumb, lazy shit this team is capable of and that was apparent in this game. Even Gasnier said it a couple of weeks ago that he thinks we'd be the best team in the comp but we can't help ourselves with dumb penalties and stupid mistakes.

My problem is he let a blatant high shot on Cordner go at 12 all then pulls a disretionary penalty to hand them the game My problem is not really with the discretionary penalty it is with them ignoring a blatant penalty that was not in any way discretionary earlier on which would have given us a 2 point lead

Would you care to elaborate your feelings on the high shot on Cordner not being penalised or do you think that is ok

That last penalty was a joke. The decision was technically correct, but it's hard to justify when the referee has put his whistle away for the 5 minutes before when the Roosters are attacking the Warriors line(and the entire game beforehand).

How he can overlook some pretty obvious infringements (like the high shot on Cordner) but then turn into eagle eye to find the obscure Pearce penalty. You don't award a penalty like that unless you look for it specifically.

But not to worry, we're just a bunch of whingers and we purposely give away penalties on our line (that's the counter argument whenever our lack of penalties is brought up).

Archer will come out and say the final decision was correct and then we rinse and repeat for the next game.

Thought it should have been penalised but from u6's, you're taught to play the whistle. (You're also taught to get onside and hold on to the ball).

FWIW, Robbo thought it was offside also.

Is there a time limit on how long a penalty kick for goal can be taken whilst the clock is ticking. I'm sure that it was given at around 77:35 and by the time Johnson wasted time the kick was taken probably around 79:10. As if there was any time to try anything after that!

Watched the game without the call team... could clearly hear the refs thru out the game.. The last penalty i could hear the ref yelling "Mitchell!!!" about 3-4 times before he went in for the tackle... he had plenty of time to back out of the play...so it was a fair call and it hard to really complain about it.... BUT what I can complain about is the lack of calls against the Warriors.. multiple time our boys were called out for milking but moments later the warriors would get a penalty for milking the VERY same way... so yeah...that's all i have to add as someone who was listening to the refs all game.

Then the piece of shyte calls a scrum........................it was a farking penalty.
