Hoping someone with access can cut and paste into here.

It was regarding how he is going to subdue Klemmer this weekend - seem unlike him to come out and say that, probably some poetic license from the writer.

    Thanks if you can help.

He actually compliments Klemmer. Pretty stock standard comments.

Roosters lock Sio Siua Taukeiaho can’t wait to take on
    Bulldogs forwards

FORWARDS don’t usually look for one-on-one battles with their opposite number — after all, why else would they call it a pack?

But returning Sydney Rooster Sio Siua Taukeiaho has his sights firmly set on subduing Canterbury forward David Klemmer when the teams clash on Sunday.

Taukeiaho relishes confronting the best lock forwards in the world and can’t wait to take on Klemmer and the rest of the blue-and-white giants.

“They’ve got a good forward pack, but I love playing against Bulldogs,” Taukeiaho said.

“They’ve got a big team and it challenges myself, going up against bigger blokes than myself.

“I’ll challenge myself to go up against Klemmer, and I’m really excited for the challenge.

“I’ve always had that in my head. I’m going up against one of the best locks in the game and I can see where I’m at at the moment.

“Us forwards, our role is to go out there and dominate the middle three of the next team. That’s our role to hopefully go out there and ruin the whole middle.”

Klemmer will be keen for a strong performance heading into Origin with the 23-year old a certainty to be named in the Blues squad for the series opener.

But he’ll have his hands full in subduing Taukeiaho, who has been in excellent form since returning from an ACL injury.

The one-time New Zealand international has run for over 100 metres in all four matches he’s played this season, including 173 from 18 carries in the 48-10 thumping of Parramatta last Sunday, the third highest total in his career.

Given Taukeiaho’s use of footwork close to the line he feared that last season’s knee injury could rob him of the agility that makes him so effective.

“I always step off my right and that’s the knee that I did,” he said.

“I did lose a lot of confidence but during the whole pre-season and rehab I did a lot of work on that knee, a lot of footwork stuff.

“I kind of built my confidence up leading towards the season and I was looking to play in Round 4 but I ended up playing Round 7.

“They gave me those extra weeks just to improve my footwork and my tackling.”

Taukeiaho was propelled straight back into the Roosters starting side for the Anzac Day thriller against the Dragons and has picked up five Dally M votes in the last two weeks.

The 25-year old is perhaps the most underrated middle forward in the competition and if he continues his current form he will surely enter considerations for New Zealand’s World Cup squad.

Thanks Tommy, that last paragraph now means everyone in the comp now knows what we already knew!

A pretty good article for the Chooks and especially SST.

I remember reading an article about how they didn't know how he would go, then roosters signed him, then made his debut for warriors and they realised they buggered it up and tried to make him backflip, shows how inept that club is.

Apparently Matt Elliott preferred Todd Lowrie.

              Yep, really.

I often wonder why he's no longer a head coach......

thanks for the link roosterfan nz I think it says a lot about his character that he decided to stay with his decision to sign with us even after the warriors gave him a go in first grade

kingsgrove loiner you're right about matt elliott I couldn't believe our club brought him in to the coaching staff one year what a debacle

Serious why would you come out in the paper and say you'll target a player? Sure fire way of firing that player up tbh. Not very smart.

And also highlighting the fact that you step on one particular foot more than the other. FFS???

                    Farian mun,

                    1. There's a fine line between calling out a player or group of players (eg Napa in round 3 v Penrith) and speaking highly of a team and releasing a challenge against a good opponent (SST).
I think Robbo may have encouraged him to say it because Robbo is a fantastic coach and rugby league fan above all else, he wants to see a mini battle within the war, and let's face it, SST v Klemmer would be a great battle.

                    2. In today's game, every minute detail of every player will have been documented and studied. Everyone would know by now which foot SST prefers, that Pearce steps off his right foot close to the line and that Latrell has a killer right hand fend.

                    3. Have the west Memphis 3 been exonerated yet?

I think SST is just challenging himself. It's good he has the confident to back himself. Now he'll just have to follow it up with a powerful game and make Klemmer his biatch.

they were released but had to sign a thing that said that while they werent guilty, the verdict was also correct so they cant sue the state.

Klemmer... taller and lighter than Toops but plays in the front row. WHY?!?!? The 'beast' of Belmore is a little like Gollum... a weedy guy who might scratch but is pretty easy to rough up and fluster if you're JWH or Napa.
