Guessing the squad's already decided given that it'll be the last world cup for most members of the current QLD dynasty. It'll just be a massive corclejerk where they all pat each other on the back and win themselves another medal for the trophy cabinet.

Be kinda cool to see a NSW-flavoured squad though. International experience would be great for Pearce's development/confidence...

          I think it's a very good chance.
They might even decide against Cronk if he retires.

I would have thought if Pearce hasn't developed yet, he's probably not going to.

I think his development has been a torrid but solid one. What he is now needs to be maintained and kept on track.

Agreed. However, Maloney has hit solid form since reaching about Pearce's age. Still a clown but before he signed with us he was just another half really. Now he's an Origin half who will probably replace JT (and could be playing until he's 35).

Highly theoretical but if Pearce and Maloney are a winning comination this year and next year then they'll really p!ss off QLD because they feel that heaps of the current players 'deserve' a send-off. They just need a few runs on the board and they'll quite easily become the Kangaroos halves.

It's easier said than done, but we COULD be on the brink of Cords becoming the Kangaroos captain. Right now it's a QLD circlejerk because Mal and Smith picks all their QLD mates. If the tables turn... guys like Milf, Munster, Hunt, DCE...etc could all be lost in history, with QLD struggling to find a winning combo (and NSW dominating the Kangaroos squad).
