Dave Brown was a legend at that age!

      Can we clone him?

With Bennet oaching our current team we would be top 4.

You really have lost the plot Cogburn.

Its all about attitude and ours is disgusting.
That is the fault of the head coach!!!

Exactly. At no point whatsoever should we be CUTTING our own homegrown players to sign names from other clubs. We should only sign players in positions where there are glaring vacancies that our own talent does not cover.

Look at Nuuausala, Paea, Shack...persisting with them for a few years, and they are now playing at a greater potential than most of us ever expected of them. Had we persisted with Tupou and Shillington, I feel they would have become great clubmen. I don't mind the signing of Myles, as a direct replacement for Morley, Jorbs as a replacement to Ping, and Braith to fill the vacated 5-8 spot (it seemed we did not have enough faith in Soward at 5-8), but the rest, Mason, O'Meley, etc. we did NOT need!

Harrison was a needless buy, when at the time we had plenty of young forwards coming through the ranks. Mason and O'Meley's signings not only spelled the end to Tupou and Shillington's stay at our club, but it also cost us John Williams who even at his most average seemed to be twice the player that Sonny Tuigamala and Sisa Waqa are. It also cost us Antonio Winterstein and James Tamou, two of the very few of our U20's standouts last year.

Our tendency is to sign first, and if we cannot, we will then keep our own players. Not good enough.

Melon, it must be said that most of the players we import end up crap as well.

The Roosters have perfected making a dud of imported talent down to a fine art.

So we may as well keep the home grown players. They are usually cheaper and at least have some sort of connection to the club other than money.

Dont get me wrong id love nothing more than to field about 4 local juniors in our team which would be about 3 more tha Souffs who blindly dont even know where half theyr "stars" come from.

And lets face it...with the overs the game pays these kids today, These young blokes will jump as soon as they are offered a bit more cash elsewhere. Weve bought alot of high profuile duds in teh past. We also bought discards like Myles, Wing, Anasta, Mullins, Elsegood, who I believe have earnt their pay cheques. its a balancing act....and whilst Penrith and teams like the Dragons can unearth good talent all the time its all because of their massive catchments. We have diddly squat so teh chances of producing a diamond (there's another one that bled for Easts), are very small. But just because we sign half teh pkids with potential, unless we have staff that can develop them we wont get diamonds...we may as well get SOME value and buy.

Its all about youth development. We need talented coaches that are great with raw kids. Other teams have them...we dont in my opinion. our juniors stagnate and Newtown sends them decades backwards. Why do you thin we started going downhill when Newtown became our partners? that arrangement is completely retarded...and produces retards.

My priorities if i was CEO.

                  1. Fire the majority of the training staff.
                  2. Hire staff that can get into young men's psyche and can shape leaders.
                  3. Hire innovative medical and fitness staff. Bring them from over seas if need be.
                  4. Re-establish the Easts History and Juniors relationships. Reconcile the juniors and start a funding and promotion drive that gets Eastern Suburbs and Nth Sydney Familes want to send their kids to the roosters. yes Nth Sydney. Geographically we are 10 minutes from Moore park and districts. Why should Norths feed Souths? if Gosford awaits, the residents will still need a team. A sydney based team. The market is there, even teh nth Shore toffs are tyring of teh Waratards. Take on the Tahs and The Swans - to do this id hire the best Marketting and management people money can buy. Why? because the current crop have no ****ing idea.
                  5. Cut the deadwood players for the last time. Those that put in will complete their contracts and auvoir. The rest can leave now. Id rather bleed 5 or 6 under 20s and win the spoon than win it with big names.
                  6. Get Adrian Morley - our new head forwards coach. refurnish his flat in Coogee and tell him its time to come home.
                  7. Hire a new "assistant" head coach. Id go after Lang another Easts man. Assistant by title only. Freddy needs help, and is open to accepting it. Freddy would actually be shoved back into teh apprentice chair, but in front of the cameras hed be assistant head coach. lang would call the shots on teh field- regardless of what teeh board, Nick or sponsors think.

Lastly, keep Brad Fittler, Craig Fitzgibbon (assistant forwards coach)and Anthony Minichiello (assistan backs coach). Name One other club that has 3 members of its team of the century on the staff. all passionate Easts men. All Premiership winners with THIS club also.

This is a 5 year drive. A 5 year plan to re-invent the 2002 machine. The REAL Sydney Roosters. A club that bleeds for their mates, and for their colours. For their loving fans. A club that doesnt know how to lay down and wilt. A club that will swing until they draw last breath.

Start in 2010 - contest by 2013. Reap rewrds by 2015-16.

                  Just my take on it.

sure Cordner is showing a lot of potential in the younger grades but why rush him into it. The kid is still only 16! He can could still play U/18's SG Ball next year anf then U20's for another 2 years after that. If he was a winger/centre or fullback MAYBE but he is a back rower and he still would have to grow into his body a bit more.

And this is what we are missing behind the scenes. A dream if we could get Pay back to the club. Shrek, sa and Soli need to go. I think Willie is having a go, but he isnt the player of a few years back. I willing to give hime extra time due to the knee rehab.

I am with Trew and Melon here, but it should not stop with Fitler.

I thought things were going to look up when they got rid of the incompetant Fisk but its stalled.
