If Freddy stays & we don't appoint a coaching director to "help" him our problems will only get worse..

He is completely overwhelmed by the job at the moment..

He need an older, wiser head to come on board to lift some of the work load off his shoulders..

Allow him a bit of "lateral thinking time" to come a with a few more of the set plays that led our early season charge last year..

I'm sure most on this forums preference for the position would be Gus..

    Freddy + Gus = Success..

Trouble is he is a one trick pony at the moment.
He has no lateral thinking and they are still running the same set plays they ran last year

            Antonio Winterstein
            Justin Hodges
            Ash Harrison
            Jamie Soward
            Ben Hannant
            Joel Monaghan
            Anthony Tupou
            Mark Minichiello
            Michael Crocker

off the top of my head have left this club to play much better at new clubs.
While that is not Brad Fittlers fault it is mangements fault.
We are about to unleash a whole new bunch of gems that some other club will polish up.

We as a club are in massive massive trouble.

The whole Freddy thing is messy.

He was on the front foot in that Footy Show interview saying he's not going anywhere, has the resolve to get on with the job etc. Bottom line he isnt quitting.

So the only way he goes is if he gets the tap on the shoulder. I doubt the club will say Freddy on your bike. Wont look real flash tossing the legend.

Personally, I think the club was hoping Freddy would walk. That way he jumped and wasnt pushed. The club is understanding, Freddy isnt pissed at the club, fans aren't pissed with management, it was a mutual arrangement started by Freddy.

Saddened, the club needs to find a replacement for the vacancy of head coach.

At touch footy. Soward also has the best coach in the game, and a team that actually moves on the field. Imagine what Pearce could do under Nennett and a team that actually tries. Or havent you thought of that?

Mate you thought Barrett was worth chasing years ago, so Ill give it away now.

Almost all of our big name signings were made because our player retention/recruitment had to faith in the players we already had.

Monaghan and Roberts were signed when Hodges and Hegarty left.

Myles was signed when Morley left.

Firman was signed when Fittler retired - no good there.

Harrison was signed when Ricketson retired - he struggled, left for Mason, and now is playing better for Titans.

Vince Mellars was signed when Walker left - Walker is playing alright for Titans after a solid stint with the Storm, while Mellars got barely any good chances and then rotted in the Jets before floating off to Union.

Anasta was signed which clearly showed the club has zero faith in Soward after Firman's release - he left, and is now revelling at Dragons.

We signed John Williams as a speedy outside back when Ryan Cross left - was barely given a fair go, then cut for Mason.

We signed Tuigamala and Waqa because the club cleared did not rate Antonio Winterstein - he is playing great in Brisbane.

We signed James Aubusson because obviously the club didn't see a long term future for Stranger - he played in a Grand Final, a WINNING Grand Final, last year.

We signed Riley Brown, who tries hard but is limited, as a replacement for Wing as starting hooker...not smart.

We picked up Brent Grose when Monas left - Monas is playing SOO, while Grose has been released.

We signed Charlie Tonga and Glenn Hall to replace Ben Hannant and Richard Fa'aoso - both of them are now standout props for their respective clubs. Then, to make matters worse, we replaced Charlie Tonga and Glenn Hall with Danny Nutley and Chris Beattie . Tonga is now in QLD Cup, but Hall is playing out of his skin at Manly, along with fellow ex-Rooster George Rose.

Signing Mason and O'Meley was a clear indicator to the club that Tupou and Shillington were not a priority anymore, and not only that, but the extra $$$ to sign them also cost us Ashley Harrison, John Williams and Danny Williams.

                      ...

I'm sorry, but that is disgraceful. We sign players instead of having faith in juniors, we cut juniors to make way for big $$$ spending sprees, who come to our club, do very little and we stagnate, while the rookies jet off to other clubs and make it big. The club is so obsessed with having big names for marketing purposes, that it forgoes common effing sense

Don't forget the wonderlust for kimmorley all those years ago from Coggy as well melon.

In the end we have a team with talent, regardless what is said, we do.

The problem is, this talent has not been used to it's potential.

You look at sides like the dragons, dogs and broncos, they all have a game plan and structure that works to their strengths. We are not and this is what needs to change.

Mack, for alot of those, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Look at monnas, alot of fans, were calling him iceberg, why, i don't know, but thats the thing, the perception of a player at one club may change when they go to another club for may reasons.

It may be the player is more suited to a structure at another club, they get on better with the players or it could be as simple as they feel more at home.

As i said in another thread, would these players we let go make our current position any better??

And if we were in a better position than we are at the moment, would we really be questioning the release of these players?

Hindsight can sometimes be a wonderful thing, but very negative when dwelled upon.

Agree about the hindsight. But some foresight wouldnt be too bad either. I really dont want to ignite a Soward V Pearce debate. But the fact is Soward wasnt given a real go with us We didnt persist with him in the top grade as we have with other, less talented blokes.

I never understood why we went out and bought players at the sunset of their careers. Shrek played well last year, but at his age is was signed to 3 years and second year in there are problems. Forgetting that, I think we have a side capable of being much higher on the ladder than we are.

So who do you think are the players in our club that will shine in the future either with us or if they leave the club in the future. Not all players we off load go on to be superstars but it seems if they change clubs and show an ounce of potential, everyone claims to have said we should have kept them.....

Yeah good point and the $64 K question. I wouldnt have liked to see Shack or Symonds go, I think Sisa has pontential. But blokes like Sa who have been given plenty of time to shine I wouldnt mind if they moved on. I also had doubts about Soli, but I think the positional change has worked. And like I said I 'm not totally unhappy with the make up of our squad.
