There are a few Roosters tries at the Sports Ground here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VVXjGwSq80

The first doesn't appear until after 2 minutes (we played a lot at the SCG in 75) but you won't mind. This was perhaps the greatest RL team ever - beautiful to watch.

And Kokora. Wasnt it "in the shell or sugar coated" for the peanuts?
Spot on Rainbow, you and Hawkeye have a better memory than me......it was quite a few beers ago.

Also loved playing footy on the Eastern hill, running up the hill then a big step downhill to score in the corner marked by the can of KB.

FANTASTIC thanks so much. I love the tries and I love remembering how good it all was. That try at 1 minute 22 seconds against Manly is freakish.

*As RC mentioned, the smacking sound of the masseurs and the linament smell from the change rooms, the players studs on concrete.
*The players walking in on their own wth their families, and having to walk the concourse in front of the stands during the lower grades
*Watching all 3 games .....U23's, Reserves and Firsts
*A round faced clock that stopped 5 mins from fulltime. No digital countdown
I can remember that clock HE.
Wasn't it stuffed and didn't work properly?
I remember a game there when we lapped Cronulla by plenty.

I have vivid memories of the sports ground. I was at the Manly 40-2 game and plenty of other games around 80-82.

I remember playing touch footy across the road in Moore Park with other dudes from the Turner stand during the lower grades planty of times, one of em was this particularly ugly guy with very large acne-like lumps all over his head. He used to go by the nickname of chikito head from memory. I also remember Winfield promo girls in bikinis handing out free winnies to anyone who wanted em, including 12 year old kids like me. Thats how I started smoking. Took me 20 years to quit. Thanks Winfield and Rugby League!

speaking of our tries, we always seemed to have players in motion continually supporting each other? were they fitter in those days?

Stephen, I think it was as much a case as the defense was different those days.
Neverless thats one of the things that really struck me about the 70s Roosters the amazing backup
