It's a disgrace. At one stage in the first half Jake actually threw the ball over one of their players instead of trying to milk it.

It's a pity no journalist had the balls to point out to Flanno the things that SupermanSupportsEasts4Eva listed in post #20 above.
He always looks like someone has farted next to him.

Flanagan is such a Muppet. Glad he ain't our coach.

Sure mate focus on the penalty as the only reason your team lost.... truth is skipper cost you the game at the death and you can't take it.

Surprise surprise that he didn't attribute the lost to the fact that even though his team had 1) 58% of the ball. 2) all the field position in the 2nd half 3) were gifted penalty after penalty after milking it in the ruck 4) was very luckily that his 5/8 wasn't binned, yet could only break our line once in the 2nd half.
And their shitty final 7 tackle set. Not. Good. Enough!

The referees should just call "play on", and not penalise the defender, I suggest that would stamp it out pretty quick. The game is going the way of soccer, milking penalties is a blight on the game.

I beleive the NRL should focus on lessening the impact, referees have on influencing the results of games too.
A penalty given in League has more impact (especially in regards to when given) than most other team sports, in changing the game result.
            Overhaul the penalty/punishment system.

For example: Remove the kick to the sideline for the minor infringements, just reset tackle count.

Another point that Robbo made was that there were a lot of good things in our attack. As much as we have made reserve grade errors in not being able to ice opportunities in the last couple of weeks, we have actually done really well to create those opportunities.
If we defend like we did last night, and just be a bit more composed at the other end, we'll go far.

thing is, the defender shouldn't be in the ruck, if he is to slow to roll out of the way, then bad luck. But I do agree with the penalties being too much of an advantage, like you said, restart the tackle count without a kick for touch, or kick for touch and resume on the tackle count the infringement occurred.

Sharks - disgraceful. Went on and on about it shouldnt of been a penalty but no mention at all about the inconsistency with the sin binning and not to mention the milking of 3 play the ball pentalys yet he went on and on about it wasn't a penalty. Really ????

Roosters - Calm acknowledged the sin binning was correct but asked consistency the Moloney and Keary were the same but only one gets sin binned.

Respect Respect where it's due to Robbo.
I love how Gal whinged about Cords 'milking' the penalty and tried arguing that it shoulda been a scrum with a Sharks feed.

                    1. He didn't drop it so we woulda had a drop goal attempt from right in front if it wasn't a penalty (it was Cords he tackled, not Pearce... haven't watched a replay but I betcha Pearce was in a perfect position to slot a drop goal from ~25 out).
                    2. Milking? Gal always holds on for hours after the tackle and in this particular situation he was trying to slow things down to prevent a fast, clean pass. He got busted and lost his boys the game (plus a spot in the top 4). Come clean to your boys!!!

Gal sounds like a tool in the interview. Lol@my mate on FB who has been saying 'SHARKS BACK TO BACK' all year and throwing insults at the Roosters.

I share your sentiment, but also feel like Gal's grubby tactics/attitude cost us a 'real' win in the eyes of many fans. It distracts us from the fact that the Roosters did an AMAZING job to hold out a drop goal attempt with our 5/8 out and to get within ~25 of the try line with a few tackles up our sleeve. To do this with one man down was spectacular and I think there woulda been a REALLY high percentage chance of us scoring a drop goal (heck a try even) from that range. I just hope that Bromwich and Maguire get the same treatment when they do the same thing during the finals. Smith too... send him off for 10 early on and when he whinges say 'yeah well Keary tried your trick the other week and spent 10 it the bin, I figure an old dog will never learn and I'll probably get sacked for this but like... it's the rules, bro'.

Received the least penalties of any team in the past two decades. And by a long way.

Not to mention he let Penrith get away with blue murder in his last game before joining us (2003GF). They were offside the whole time and he was only warning them without any penalties.

What I still cannot believe is that we received a Penalty 2 mins from fulltime right in front of the posts with the scores tied. What made it more unbelievable was that it was at their home ground.

Checchin deserves a bit of credit me thinks................99 out of 100 times that would have been let go.

                          Archer will probably sack him.

Even more remarkable given that the only penalties we received all game were for blatant fouls.

The last such penalty I can remember was the famous Andrew "Tappy" Gee stuff up for Brisbane at the SFS. The ref was obliged to give the penalty in that case (failure to tap the ball properly at a 20m re-start), but the NRL was so horrified at having to give us a match-winning penalty that they changed the rule the next year.

He knew the sin binning of Keary was a game changer (though it was the correct decision). He didn't sin bin Maloney for a similar offence in the first half. I was waiting for a square up of sorts but didn't expect it to be right near the posts with 2 minutes left.
