  • Watson 1:1 strip

Saw it live and was cheering my head off, replay on big screen - shattered. I couln't work out why there was a penalty. Did Scummins call "held" or were there 2 in it?

Whole crowd around me were mystified.

There were definitely 2 in that tackle. 1. Watto 2. The invisible man

Outrageous call by ref. Even worse than the Tet one, which was diabolical.

Think it was Evans who stuck a hand out and barely touched Hayne. Was a rubbish call.

That plus the "forward pass" .call....ffs...in the first half demonstrated that commando Cummins was gonna make us work big-time for the result.

              mission accomplished nrl.

ah, so technically 2 in the tackle.

technically, it was the correct call, all a second defender has to do is brush the player, and technically, it is a two man tackle.

That was one of the most disgraceful examples of refereeing I have seen and it wasn't all against the Roosters.
We got one try off a huge forward pass and several almost embarassing "equalsing" penalties
The Titans offside esp on the kickoff and many forward passes

                      A disgrace

Which try was the huge forward pass?

That two man in strip rule is crazy then. It should be consequential contact or double contact at the point of the strip because whilst I agree Evans did brush him with the hand it had no effect on the tackle or strip and the brush happened before the strip so at the time of the strip only one defender was in contact with the attacking player.

So so would it be deemed two in the tackle when two defenders make an initial hit - one was brushed off and the attacker carried the other defender forward a meter or two then a strip was made?

That's how I'm guessing they interpreted it. However what if the following happens?
                            1. 2 Players attempt a tackle and the attacker gets a tackle bust + clear line break.
                            2. One of the tacklers catches up to the attacker (after running 20m) then strips the ball.

That's my problem with it. I reckon that the 2 man tackle was broken and that this was a separate 1-man tackle that happened later on. Steal's good!

How can you record a tackle bust on the stats sheet and then record an illegal strip for that same tackle when there was a bust?

Boyd Cordner in the first half. I am probably in the minority here but I thought the pass was forward, I remember saying to a mate before the try was disallowed that we're lucky to get away with the pass but then Cummins called it forward, even on the big screen I thought it was forward.
