Yes he can be that bad. Maybe I'm just biassed because I find him to be an arrogant tool. And he was a nothing player too.
Being arrogant doesn't mean he cannot coach.. I am wondering if anyone judging his coaching has any qualifications to judge whether he can actually coach or has actually been coached by him.. Great coaches are not the sort of people who try to be one of the boys...
10 seasons as a playmaker in first grade, played Origin as well
yeah, a real nothing player
I've never seen our 20's play as well as they did on Saturday
OMG I forgot he played 2 origin games for NSW. That makes a huge difference. So where would you rank him amongst the great halfbacks of the game? He was a great goalkicker and um gee what else did he do that really stands out.....

That's why I said I'm probably biassed. But I'm not convinced of his coaching credentials anyway. I remember hearing that he wasn't particularly popular with the Souths players when he coached there. I'm not talking about popular in the sense that thay wanted him to be one of the boys, more in his communication skills and complaints that he never showed any confidence in his players and they never felt like he trusted them. Players like Isaac Luke etc. I just remember reading some of the players comments about him when they compared him to John Lang and how Lang was more approachable and gave them more confidence to try different things on the field. I just don't think he would such a great choice.
Anyone that can get perennial losers like Souths to the finals with one of the best defensive records in the NRL has to have some sort of ability and talent.
We are talking about Souths, who on average concede cricket scores.

Yeh because it's really working for them since Taylor moved on.
The best thing that ever happened to that club was in '07 when he came in and put some discipline into that club. They defended their way to a top 8 position, they showed respect for the ball and despite the lack of quality were always in a game. Things you'd say we're seeing in the 20's team now.
Who gives a **** if he was popular amongst the Souffs players. If they're too dumb to realise that they got to their first finals series since black and white tv on the back of defence not attack then it's not Taylor's fault. In 09 they had the second best attack, in 2010 they had the best (statistically speaking anyway). I reckon Taylor knew what was working, it was the Souffs players who didn't.
I'm still indifferent to him and will judge him on his time here, he's only been here for a few months though.
