Nothing to do with the Gold Coast..

All we hear in the media is how well Melbourne are run and that they are a powerhouse etc etc etc blah blah blah

They have unlimited funds available and a lot of that thinking goes back to a time when they busted the cap to pieces.

I think we are entitled to more respect than them.

Consider this stat. Two teams in the NRL era have played in the most preliminary finals - us and them are about to play our tenth. That's pretty incredible. But we are never mentioned in the same breath as then when people are praising clubs. I am happy to fly under the radar but it is important that we know they have nothing on us. We both have the same number of premierships.

This thread is clash of the titans because I am extremely confident we will be playing them in the big show, Yes, we should take it one week at a time but consider Robbo's record of backing up after a week off. It's incredible. 9 from 11 with average points of 30 for and 14 against. We will murder Parra and if by some fluke it's Cows we will torture and murder them before cutting them up and feeding them to our pigs.

And I now think we can beat them, They are not supermen. Bellamy is not a superman. In fact, he has plenty of lost GF's that show his side can pack it in on that biggest stage. Also, they have a lot of young players without finals experience now. We have plenty of finals experience going for us.

And when it comes to season records the defensive efforts of our 2013 side come to mind. But how about this side's record of winning close game - which is the best EVER! Is there any better record you would want to hold going into a GF? We have snuck up on this competition and are ready to pounce.

Melbourne will be favourites and they deserve to be. But we are firming in my mind.

Strap yourselves in and enjoy the ride.

        Good post.
We are more likely to win the GF than, say, Newcastle were in 2001.
We are always up for the fight and can win ugly but, who knows, maybe next time Boydy is about to score a try he doesn't slip over, maybe Aubbo will remember how to pass the way he has been passing his entire career and puts Fergo over for a couple, maybe we stop dropping the ball over the line, maybe we will get 50% of possession, maybe we will get a fair go from the refs ...

The other day on the radio they were talked about as the most successful sporting team and organisation in Australia today. Made me want to puke. They were convicted cheats not too long ago and they have won nothing!

If we get an even share of possession and they aren't allowed to kill the ruck we will beat them. Of course, neither of those things are likely to happen.

I think Rothwit recently said the best in the world. But it may have been in a dream. Or a nightmare.

Their aura of invincibility is not deserved. They have lost three grand finals. And they have been in the eight more than us for just as many prelim finals.

Can't argue with anything in the original post.

I'm confident we can do a 'Penrith 2003' and topple the overwhelming favourite and seemingly unstoppable juggernaught. Hopefully we're saving our perfect game for that GF.

I'm also super confident that we'll get there.

I'm absolutely loving how overhyped Parra are. If they don't choke this week then we beat them well in the Prelim for sure.

I just feel as though we match up VERY WELL against them. Our forwards will nullify theirs and our left edge will have a field day in and around Moses.

So I'd actually prefer to play them where as the Cowboys could be a 2004 like Prelim banana skin.

Of course we can beat them. I'm glad we're flying under the radar. Most years we're one of the most hated teams (because we are doing so well). I don't get that feeling this year, which is good, Storm get that this year.

I can't believe that the Storm are being mentioned as a successful sporting team, well run, etc, I do believe they get special treatment. They had a second set of books for five years, stripped of two premierships, three minor premierships, fined $1.7M, forced to play a season with no points, secret letters to two current big name players were found, a rep player was caught doing cocaine and only had a 2 game suspension (unlike SKD who almost lost his career for possession only), wrestling tactics are the worse thing to watch in NRL, etc.

But there is too much love for both the Storm and Eels to feel comfortable.
Love takes you a long way in this comp.
