  • Not your typical "I told you so " thread

    Firstly, the team over achieved.
For that, any real hate isnt justified despite the loss.

What I took out of the game.

How a player kicks dead twice off kicks in a big game is mind numbing.
The timing of Fergusons turnovers were CRITICAL.
JWH was being outplayed and reated like he always does when he doesnt dominate.
That is where the game was lost.

I am trying to come to terms with the bench rotation and selections.
Having Tupou out there was bizarre.
The medical staff and or the coach need to brought to account on that.
That is also where the game was lost.

I guess most of us were hoping that come semis that we would stop committing the errors that plagued the team all season.
    They kept making errors.

So the question is why do teams keep making errors??
Errors are a sign of discontentment and a lack of discipline.
So the answers most of us are after we will never really know.
Is it a clash of personalities?
Does it delve into something a bit deeper involving the rooster psyche? As a club are we too arrogant? IS there a lack of genuine guys and genuine attitudes who give their heart into the playing group?
Is it a leadership issue? Jake and Boyd give 150%. So does Mitch.....except he and Keary were highly ineffective based on the said errors.

I think they tried really hard...so it is not motivation in my books.
Its one thing to want to win.
It is another thing to earn the right TO WIN.

Its like they want to win without competing across the park for entire duration of the game.

I would have released Mick Gordon.
    I would have sacked Fergo.
I would sign an anglo Aussie backrower who is as tough as Jake.

I would also get a new coach.
    But that is just me.

    Resigning Ferguson was a mistake.

    Signing Tedesco was a masterstroke.

Next year will be great, we'll go close.

Only major concern in my book is our props. JWH and NAPA are a major weak link, and couldn't hold a candle to the best front rowers in the game right now.

JWH has had his use by date for me. Napa a bench player at best yet his 4yr deal signed late last year staggering as too the recent resigning of Fergo for a year, whilst they released Watson a player with enthusiasm and speed. DUMB. The coming of Tedesco is exciting however he gets to play with a half and hooker who are close to their use by date.

Robbo should be on notice too as the squad he has had should have won at least 3 premierships and made the GF this year - only 1 GF appearance -anyone could see that Keary was affected by his illness and did zilch tonight- why not have Watson at 5/8.

It's been Robbo's reluctance to use him that he has signed with another team- Why pick Toops - he was not fit either - left the team with only 2 forward reserves - sure errors cost the game but having passengers didn't help either.

Cannot see us making a stand in 2018 as changes of personal are more than required - some players are at or past their use buy date - we lose and have lost players such as SKD/Guerra/Watson and Evans and have only signed one established NRL player in Tedesco who wont win a comp on his own.

Playing Matto/Maubs in the centres the last part of the season showed the lack of development and confidence in players such as Manu - Manu would have done a better job tonight than Matto/Maubs at centre/ Evans as a forward reserve and Watson at 5/8 instead of an unwell Keary. Not good enough and Uncle Nick should demand better and if Robbo cannot provide see you later and we sign another coach and other players who can win a comp.

The currently squad cannot achieve this. If I was Uncle Nick I would sign Cronk and release Pearce as well as others- JWH/Friend/Fergo

5 yrs of a game plan that is basically the same and a squad since 2016 with no speed. A major problem in the approach - we release speedy players such as Jimmy, RTS and Watson yet resign players who couldn't run out of sight on a dark night. Politis apparently was desperate to sign Fergo yet those injuries have caused him to be a different player whilst his Queensland loyalties in resigning the ever so slow and under performing Napa for 4 yrs bewildering. Robbo's fascination or whatever you call it that he has in Pearce similar to Nicks with Friend the head scratcher.

Not your typical told you so thread? You told us we would miss the 8 and Robbo would be sacked.

You need to be right about something to do a told you so thread.

I love Teddy but we have sacrificed a lot of depth to get him. We desperately need to sign an experience forward or two.

We can lose games by not being good enough and I'm sure no one will protest but the stupid stupid mistakes we made was our achilles heal. I'm sure that if Cameron Smith was captain and he saw Mitchell making one mistake like kicking out from a restart, he would set him straight without offending Mitchell. It's the difference between a real leader and a rookie leader. I hope that Cords is able to hone in on his people managing skills so dumb mistakes are quickly eradicated on the field.

Fair comment circa 2017...haha you win.
Its as I see it to.
My fair say before game amongst friends was that we should win by 20 but our teams season of erratic games worried me.
That comes down to the coaching.
If fergo doesn't drop critical balls we wouldve finished strongly and win. Just dumb ass momentum killer plays.
My next priority signing would be Ash Taylor. Get rid of Pearce and Fergi to cover the cost

I never said Robbo would get the sack.
ive never seen a coach as popular at Bondi........don't you think that could be working against him?
Going against the grain can be more effective than being loved.
Brian Smith was the most despised
Now we have the most loved........

Just think about that for one minute

the the other question boys is why did they keep making stupid errors

                            Can anyone answer that?
That is the job of the coach

said the same thing in another post somewhere.. fully agreed.
i said some thing erratic coach behaviour with team selections and use of bench = erratic field behaviour it was my only fear yesterday and I will stck by my words we really shouldve beat them by 20 .It was on the cards in the second half.
