Am I right in thinking that 3rd party payments can equal up to the salary amount? So he could be getting $1.8m pa to move to Bondi?

He could sign for 500k and have a TPA worth 500k to make up the 1 mill payment- only the club contract 500k is charged to the cap as long as the TPA is legal - TPA's cannot be negotiated by the club/used as an inducement to sign a player / TPA payer cannot be a club sponsor or involved with the club in some capacity and use the games intellectual property(jersey/logo's/reference to the team who the player plays for etc) - The player is being paid for his intellectual property (name and likeness) via the TPA - I.E Billy Slater's TPA- fronting the Australian Banana's campaign - get fit with Billy campaign.

I am not sure though if a player has to do something for the TPA payment? - be part of some marketing/promotional campaign etc

With how quick he signed it must have been close to it, no Queensland boy is leaving the Bennett Broncos for the Mary Steeler unless they are paid an enormous amount. The Steelers being unable to keep the likes of Dugan would indicate they blew a lot of their cap on Hunt also, highly likely they paid massive overs.

McGregor didn't want to keep Dugan, he has Matt Dufty who is a talented young fullback. The Dragons have room under the cap for more signings.

Ash Taylor is odds on to return to the Broncos for 2019. Pearce would be a 1 season only signing for them. That assumes they would have cap space which is unlikely with Jack Bird going there.

Aren't halves combinations supposed to take a while to gel? As good as Cronk is, he did have Smith and Slater with him for 10+ years. I thought Pearce and Keary did well considering it was their first year together. We did finish second in the home and away after all. If we sign Cronk what happens to Pearce?, I can't see him as a number 9, how does this affect the salary cap, team harmony/balance? Once Origin comes chances are Cronk will be gone for 5 - 6 games. And are Keary and Cronk going to gel immediately?

I think our spine is alright. Friend is OK, how many good number 9's are going around? Keary and Pearce will be better having spent a year with each other and Tedesco is as good as Mini and RTS. Probably get shot down for mentioning RTS but when he played with us he was an absolute cracker.

I think the back row are as good as any going and in the back row I'd have Liu, SST and Cordner starting but that's just me. The outside backs need some fine tuning but the talent is there. So as many have said maybe we need a couple of decent front rowers to help out JWH and Napa. We get the go forward I think the halves and backs will shine. Remember Mitchell is still very raw so for the few mistakes he may make at times, in my opinion he outweighs them by plenty with the positives.
